About Gary Bettan, the web author

This page used to be about me, but now all anyone wants to see is Max. He is an incredible little boy. He loves people and will let anyone hold and play with him!! I love him too, and that is why I am so PROUD to share his developement with you. He is a true Cyber-Baby!!

August 28th is Max's 1st birthday.
Everyone who wishes Scoobie a HAPPY BIRTHDAY will get a FREE gift with their order.

What's new with Max:
Max is growing bigger and doing more and more cool stuff!! He can stand on his own and he's gonna be walking any day now. His two top teeth are coming in just in time for his birthday! Max is eating real food now. His favorite food is pasta. He especially likes spaghetti (and Low Mein) and it is adorable to watch as he slurps up each strand. He also likes hamburgers and french fries. I am going to take him to Mickey D's for his first happy meal on his birthday. He also loves to eat bananas and peaches.

Scoobie is having a very big birthday party (two actually), and I will post up some photo's and maybe even a video clip from one of them.

Scoobie's favorite things:
Scoobie still loves the water, and his favorite thing is going "kick-Kick-kick" in Grandpa's pool. He can play Patty Cake, gives a great Hi five, and gives the "touchdown" signal when he plays "How big is Max"!! He also loves music and that means watching "the purple dinosaur" and Seasame Street.
Funny Max Story:
Max's cousin Elissa (who babysits for him when mommy helps out in the office) taught him to play the "Up and Down" game on her lap. Unfortunately, she never told us about it, and we thought he had something wrong with him because he was bending over backwards on our laps all the time. Almost two weeks later we saw her play "Up and Down" and we finally knew what he was doing!!

Max when he was 1 month old. Max (3 months old) eating cereal for the first time!!! It's big (138k) but worth it!

I hope you have found my website to be interesting. It was not easy putting these pages together. All of the copy was written by me, although some of it has appeared in our ads and/or catalogs before. I used HTML Writer to encode/create the pages. The logo's and buttons are now made using Ulead Photo Impact ( on sale $95) a great program for doing web graphics. I have upgraded my home computer to a Micron Home P133, and that's where I still do 90% of my web work. I recommend this system for doing DTV. I am now running an AV Master Blaster on it and getting great results.

I have been interested in consumer electronics and video my entire life. I took television production classes in high school. While attending SUNY Albany I worked part time in a video store renting movies and selling Betamax's. My first real job after college was with Philips CE in Knoxville TN. There I worked as a financial analyst for Magnavox TV Product planning. For the past 8 years I have been at Broadfield Distributing Inc., the parent company of The Electronic Mailbox. The Electronic Mailbox is our mail order retail division. Broadfield Distributing Inc. wholesales our products to resellers and retailers throughout the US. If you are a dealer, call (516) 676-2378 to set up an account.

As you can now tell, I wear many hats. I am the computer guy, who everyone runs to when things don't work. In addition I am one of the tech advice specialists and the DTV Guru. I am also a contributing writer to Camcorder Magazine. Now that this site is up and running, I can go back to my monthly article schedule. You can see my latest article, a roundup article of all the latest and greatest affordable video capture cards!

I am very proud of the recommendations we have received from TV Technology and Videomaker Magazines. The DTV Handbook On-Line continues to be reccomended by magazines, vendors and other websites!

The Website has become a very important part of our marketing strategy, and I want to thank you for visiting. Over 10,000 people have requested our catalog, and almost 5000 people have downloaded new video capture drivers from our ftp page. I feel our jump page is the best on the web for video production related sites.
The website is a lot of work, but I feel it has been well worth the effort. Future plans include pictures of products, even more FREE downloads, and more articles on the latest cutting edge technologies and products.

So please order soon and often,
and make sure you mention the website when you do!

Those of you on the rec.video use groups and Compuserve forums are probably familiar with my postings. I try to be informative and honest, while promoting our company and products. It is not an easy line to walk, and I do occassionally cross it. Thank you all for your tolerance and support.
