Chinese Formula Data For Liquid Extracts

Some of the formulas below have been taken from " Thorne's Guide to Herbal Extracts, Volume II" by author Terry Thorne. Chinese Formulas can be found in many other books as well, such as "Chinese Herbal Medicine, Formulas and Strategies" by author Dan Bensky & Randall Barolet. More in-depth data can be found in the references above. Atractylus & Poria Formula
Contents: Atractylus, Cinnamon, Poria, Alisma.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Tonic for effects of over-indulgence in alcohol.
Note: Not for use during acute illness.

Bupleurum Formula
Contents: Bupleurum, Red Jujube Date, Scute, Ginger, Paeony Root.
Dosage: 20 to 30 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Bupleurum Sedative Formula. Tonic for those with broad jaw, strong muscles. Eases muscle tension. Regulates liver and gall bladder. Good for circulation, improves appetite. Note: Not for use during acute illness.

Bupleurum & Cinnamon Twig Combination (Chai Hu Gui Zhi Tang)
Contents: Bupleurum, Prepared Pinellia, Chinese Licorice, Cinnamon Twig, Scute, Chinese Ginseng, Paeony Root, Red Jujube Date, Fresh Ginger.
Dosage: 10 to 20 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Used for common cold, lingering cold with mild fever, pleurisy. Also used for pain in the upper middle region of the abdomen due to disharmony between functions of liver and spleen-pancreas system.

Bupleurum & Paeony Root Formula
Contents: Dong Quai, Paeony Root, Poria, Atractylus, Bupleurum, Tree Peony, Gardenia, Chinese Licoice, Fresh Ginger, Mentha.
Dosage: 10 to 20 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Good for menopause, menstrual irregularities. Used for symptoms caused by abortion -irritability, emotional instability, fatigue, headache, back ache, constipation. Also used for eczema, loss of skin melanin (dark pigment in skin), overgrowth of callous layer of skin.

Ching Formula
Contents: Chinese Ginseng, Siberian Solomon's Seal, Dendrobium, Eucommia, Dodder Seed, Ho Shou Wu, Schizandra Berry, Cornus Berry, Chinese Licorice.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Replenishes essence (basic life substance of energy).

Cinnamon & Red Jujube Formula
Contents: Cinnamon, Red Jujube Date, Chinese Licorice, Paeony Root, Ma Huang, Ginger.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Traditional Chinese defense energy formula. Builds resistance. Used as tonic when body resistance is low, when a cold is coming on. Increases circulation. Can be used during colds, will cause perspiration in fever. Also stimulant and mental tonic. Relaxes joints and tendons tightened by stress.

Cinnamon Twig & Poria Combination (Gui Zhi Fu Ling Wan)
Contents: Cinnamon Twig, Poria, Paeony Root, Apricot Kernel, Tree Peony.
Dosage: 20 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Invigorates blood. Used for blood stasis and to reduce fixed abdominal masses. Good for inflam- mation of uterine lining, inflammation of ovary or oviduct, myoma (tumor containing muscle tissue), menstrual irregularities, leukorrhea (white vaginal discharge). Also used for eczema and freckles. Note: Used with extreme caution during pregnancy or postpartum (after childbirth).

Coix Combination
Contents: Coix, Dong Quai, Atractylus, Paeony Root, Cinnamon Twig, Honey-fried Chinese Licorice.
Dosage: 30 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Used for muscle aches, pain and swelling in joints, numbness and difficulty moving joints. Usually used for pain and swelling in joints that's beginning to show chronic signs. Good for arthritis, rheumatism, chronic rheumatic pain, mucoid arthritis.

Coptis Formula (Huang Lian Jie Du Tang)
Contents: Coptis, Gardenia, Phellodendron (Cork Tree), Scute.
Dosage: 10 to 20 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Dispels excess heat (In Chinese herbology this means hyper-active function, not necessarily a feeling of heat). Used for high fever, irritability, insomnia, nosebleed or vomiting of blood due to excess heat. Effective for heart palpitations and hypertension. Also used for deep-rooted boils, other swellings, and dysenteric disorders or jaundice do to damp (excess internal body dampness) heat. Note: Should only be used for excess by people with a strong constitution. This formula can injure yin (bodily fluids). Since it's very drying, it shouldn't be used long term.

Deer Antler Formula
Contents: Deer Antler, Atractylus, Tienchi Ginseng, Chinese Ginseng, Prepared Rehmannia, Paeony Root, Poria.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 times per day.
Usage: Antler energy tonic. Very powerful energy tonic. Note: not for use during acute illness.

Dioscoria Formula
Contents: Dioscoria, Cornus Berry, Chinese Ginseng, Schizandra Berry.
Dosage: 20 to 30 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Dioscoria Virility Wine. Strengthens virile power, good for spleen-pancreas and stomach. Builds muscle and energy. Note: Not for use during acute illness.

Dong Quai Formula
Contents: Dong Quai, Prepared Rehmannia, Paeony Root, Astragalus, Poria, Chinese Licorice, Codonopsis, Ligusticum.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Excellent women's tonic. Blood tonic. Improves menstrual function. Note: Do not use during pregnancy. Not for use during acute illness.

Dong Quai & Atractylus Formula
Contents: Dong Quai, Atractylus, Paeony Root, Chinese Licorice, Cinnamon.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day. Can also be applied externally on affected area.
Usage: Traditional Chinese shoulder relaxing formula. Improves blood circulation. Relaxes shoulders. Tones lumbar region (area of back and sides between lowest rib and pelvis). Strengthens legs, hips, Regulates and strengthens joints. Note: Not for use during acute illness.

Dong Quai & Paeony Root Formula (Dang Gui Shao Yao San)
Contents: Paeony Root, Alisma, Atractylus, Poria, Dong Quai, Ligusticum.
Dosage: 20 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Effective in preventing miscarriage. Tonic for women of delicate constitution with under-developed uterus and ovaries. Improves blood circulation. Used for menstrual irregularities.

Eight Immortals Formula (Ba Xian Chang Shou Wan)
Contents: Prepared Rehmannia, Cornus Berry, Dioscoria, Poria, Tree Peony, Alisma, Schizandra Berry, Japanese Lily Turf.
Dosage: 30 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Used for yin (bodily fluids) deficiency of lungs and kidney-adrenal system . Note: Use with caution in indigestion, diarrhea due to spleen-pancreas system deficiency.

Eight Treasures Formula (Ba Zhen Tang)
Contents: Prepared Rehmannia, Paeony Root, Poria, Atractylus, Dong Quai, Chinese Ginseng, Ligusticum, Honey-fried Chinese Licorice.
Dosage: 30 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Used for deficiency of chi (energy) and blood, which is usually caused by excessive loss of blood or by body imbalances due to chronic illness.

Four Gentlemen Formula
Contents: Chinese Ginseng, Atractylus, Poria, Honey-fried Chinese Licorice.
Dosage: 20 to 30 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Yang Chi Tea. Increases vital energy, increases energy that flows in exterior of body to protect against illness. Strengthens body's ability to withstand enviornmental extremes of heat and cold, stress. Increases alertness and concentration. Note: Contraindicated in chronic indigestion, fever, common cold, respiratory problems.

Four Substance Combination (Si Wu Tang)
Contents: Dong Quai, Atractylus, Poria, Honey-fried Chinese Licorice.
Dosage: 30 drops 3 times per day before meals.
Usage: Blood tonic, regulates liver. Used by women as a tonic for reproductive system. Regulates menstruation. Also used by men and the young. Developes strong bones and teeth in children. Good for teenagers with acne.

Ginseng & Asparagus Formula
Contents: Chinese Ginseng, Ho Shou Wu, Lycium Berry, Schizandra Berry, Chinese Asparagus Root.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Traditional Chinese longevity tonic. Powerful tonic, particularly for liver and kidney-adrenal system. Used to create jovial personality and open heart. Note: Not for use during acute illness.

Ginseng & Astragalus Formula
Contents: Chinese Ginseng, Astragalus, Dong Quai, Atractylus, Citrus Peel, Ginger, Red Jujube Date, Chinese Licorice.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Tonic for physical, mental or emotional fatigue. Tones stomach, improves appetite, improves absorptive ability of body's cells, builds muscular strength. Tones blood and regulates blood pressure. Improves respiration. Sharpens mind. Increases resistance to stress and disease. Post-operative tonic and tonic to build strength after disease. Ginseng & Bupleurum Formula
Contents: Chinese Ginseng, Astragalus, Atractylus, Bupleurum, Citrus Peel, Ginger, Red Jujube Date, Chinese Licorice.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day. Usage: Traditional Chinese athlete's tonic. Tonic to nourish and build body. Increases strength and stamina quickly. Builds blood. Tonic to stomach, strengthens intestines. Note: Not for use during acute illness.

Ginseng & Dioscoria Formula (Da Bu Yuan Jian)
Contents: Prepared Rehmannia, Dioscoria, Eucommia, Dong Quai, Lycium Berry, Chinese Ginseng, Cornus Berry, Honey-fried Chinese Licorice.
Dosage: 40 to 50 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Tones yin (bodily fluids) and blood. Good for yang (primary body energy and body heat) and chi (energy). Used for uterine prolapse with sore and weak lower back, severe abdominal distention, frequent urination that worsens at night, ringing or buzzing in ears, hearing loss, dizziness.

Ginseng & Dong Quai Ten Formula (Shi Quan Da Bu Tang)
Contents: Astragalus, Prepared Rehmannia, Paeony Root, Poria, Dong Quai, Atractylus, Chinese Ginseng, Ligusticum, Cinnamon, Honey-fried Chinese Licorice.
Dosage: 20 to 30 drops 3 times per day before meals.
Usage: Tonic. Used for weakness due to prolonged illness, anemia, loss of appetite, decreased gastro- intestinal function. Note: Usually used with fresh Ginger and Red Jujube Date.

Ginseng & Ligusticum Formula
Contents: Chinese Asparagus Root, Schizandra Berry, Chinese Ginseng, Ligusticum, Raw Rehmannia, Paeony Root, Citrus Peel, Chinese Licorice.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Traditional Chinese recovery formula. Tonic to blood, kidney-adrenal system. Increases energy. Used to help restore vitality and speed recovery for those getting over an acute disease. Rids body of toxins. Note: Do not use during pregnancy.

Ginseng, Lily Turf, and Schizandra Formula
Contents: Chinese Ginseng, Japanese Lily Turf, Schizandra Berry.
Dosage: 10 to 20 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Good for deficiency of chi (energy) and yin (bodily fluids) of the lungs. This condition causes chronic cough with little phlegm that's difficult to expectorate, shortness of breath, spontaneous sweating. Also used for extreme fatigue. Note: Don't use with high fever, or during acute illness.

Ginseng & Ma Huang Formula
Contents: Dong Quai, Red Jujube Date, Chinese Ginseng, Lycium Berry, Schizandra Berry, Astragalus, Dendrobium, Ma Huang.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Traditional Chinese mind tonic. Used to improve memory, clear perception, sharpen mind. Also, general tonic due to tonic action on kidney-adrenal system. Note: Not for use during acute illness.

Ginseng Nutritive Combination (Ren Shen Yang Ying Tang)
Contents: Chinese Ginseng, Atractylus, Astragalus, Honey-fried Chinese Licorice, Dong Quai, Paeony Root,Citrus Peel, Cinnamon, Prepared Rehmannia, Schizandra Berry, Poria, Polygala.
Dosage: 40 drops 3 times before meals.
Usage: Gives energy, tones blood, feeds heart, calms. Used for enfeebled conditions with palpitations. Also used for shortness of breath, forgetfulness, loss of appetite and to stop excessive weight loss. Note: Do not use during acute illness.

Ginseng & Purple Aster Formula
Contents: Astragalus, Prepared Rehmannia, Mulberry Root Bark, Purple Aster Root, Chinese Ginseng, Schizandra Berry.
Dosage: 40 to 50 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Used for deficiency of lung energy and inability of kidney-adrenal system to grasp energy coming from lungs - both energy coming to lungs from spleen (in Chinese herbology, "spleen" is the function of the spleen and pancreas) and energy taken in by lungsthemselves. This causes shortness of breath, spontaneous sweating, coughing, wheezing, occasional chills or feverishness. This deficiency of lungs leads to weakening of protective enrgy in exterior of body which leads to recurrent colds. Note: Not for use during acute illness.

Heavenly Minister's Formula
Contents: Morinda Root, Prepared Rehmannia, Psoralea Seed, Dong Quai.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Builds endurance, stamina. Also used for poor eyesight due to low vital energy. Note: Not for use during acute illness.

Ho Shou Wu & Deer Antler Formula
Contents: Ho Shou Wu, Deer Antler, Lycium Berry, Eucommia, Dong Quai, Cornus Berry, Achyranthes.
Dosage: 20 to 30 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Feeds liver and kidney-adrenal system. Very good for strengthening bones and tendons. Used for numbness and stiffness in limbs. Note: Do not use during acute illness.

Jade Windscreen Formula
Contents: Astragalus, Atractylus, Sileris.
Dosage: 30 to 60 drops 2 times per day.
Usage: Treats the common cold. Also used to build immunity to sickness. Helps prevent common cold (prolonged use, one to five months for effect) for those prone to frequent colds.

Japanese Honeysuckle & Forsythia
Contents: Japanese Honeysuckle, Forsythia.
Dosage: 30 to 50 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Used for acute infections and inflammations. In China, these two herbs are often used together as both have broad anti-microbial action, but their effects are stronger against different microbes.

Japanese Teasel Formula
Contents: Japanese Teasel, Prepared Rehmannia, Achyranthes, Acanthopanax, Dong Quai, Eucommia, Cornus Berry, Paeony Root, Poria, Citrus Peel.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Bone break formula. Promotes circulation of energy and blood through joints and bones. Used for injured joints and broken bones, after swelling and bruising stage has passed, to speed and complete recovery (helps stiffness aching, weakness). Strengthens liver and kidney-adrenal system. Note: Do not use during acute illness.

Licorice, Wheat, & Jujube Formula (Gan Mai Da Zao Tang)
Contents: Chinese Licorice, Wheat, Red Jujube Date.
Dosage: 20 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Tonic. Used for excessive worry, hysteria, anxiety, emotional disturbances, disorientation, restless sleep. Also good for anemia, weakness, constipation.

Li Shih Chen's Formula (China's most famous herbalist)
Contents: Chinese Ginseng, Atractylus, Poria, Chinese Licorice, Ginger, Red Jujube Date.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: General tonic for all conditions. Note: Do not use during acute illness.

Lycium & Rehmannia Formula (Qi Ju Di Huang Wan)
Contents: Prepared Rehmannia, Cornus Berry, Dioscoria, Poria, Tree Peony, Alisma, Lycium Berry, Chrysanthemum Flower.
Dosage: 30 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Good for all conditions of yin (bodily fluids) deficiency of liver and kidney-adrenal system where liver deficiency predominates. Used for dry and blurry eyes, over-sensitivity to light, eye tearing when in drafts, painful eyes.

Ma Huang Formula (Ma Huang Tang)
Contents: Ma Huang, Apricot Kernel, Cinnamon, Honey-fried Chinese Licorice.
Dosage: 10 to 20 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Used for upper respiratory infection, influenza, acute bronchitis, bronchial asthma, lobar pneu- monia. Use indicated when there's fever and chills (with chills predominating) and no sweating, headache, wheezing. Note: Use with caution in hyper-tension.

Major Bupleurum Combination (Da Chai Hu Tang)
Contents: Bupleurum, Prepared Pinellia, Scute, Paeony Root, Fresh Ginger, Immature Bitter Orange, Turkey Rhubarb, Red Jujube Date.
Dosage: 30 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Used for gall bladder inflammation, gallstones, diarrhea or constipation caused by heat (in Chinese herbology this means hyper-active function, not necessarily a feeling of heat) in intestines. Also used for hypertension and obesity for people with a strong constitution and chest distention, pressure in chest, constipation, stiff shoulders.

Minor Bupleurum Combination (Xiao Chai Hu Tang)
Contents: Bupleurum, Prepared Pinellia, Scute, Chinese Ginseng, Fresh Ginger, Honey-fried Chinese Licorice, Red Jujube Date.
Dosage: 30 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Taken when there's alternating chills and fever, bitter taste in mouth, feeling of fullness in chest, dizziness, irritability, cough, sticky phlegm. Used for nasal congestion, common cold, acute or chronic bronchitis, asthma, pneumonia, pulmonary tuberculosis, pleurisy, influenza. Also used for chronic kidney inflammation, gall bladder inflammation, gallstones, hypoglycemia, half acute and half chronic diseases.

Paeony Formula
Contents: Paeony Root, Red Jujube Date, Ginger, Chinese Licorice.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Builds strength and blood, improves blood circulation. Good for stomach. Used by women who have difficult menstrual periods. Note: Not for use during acute illness.

Paeony & Ligusticum Formula
Contents: Paeony Root, Bupleurum, Poria, Atractylus, Ligusticum, Ginger, Chinese Licorice.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Nerve tonic. Builds energy while relaxing nerves. Especially good for stiff neck and shoulders. Increases appetite for those who don't eat due to nervous stomach. Very good for those who flush easily or have hot flashes. Note: Not for use during acute illness.

Pinellia Combination (Ban Xia Xie Xin Tang)
Contents: Prepared Pinellia, Scute, Chinese Ginseng, Ginger, Honey-fried Chinese Licorice, Coptis, Red Jujube Date.
Dosage: 20 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Harmonizes stomach. Used for inflammation of stomach, intestinal tract inflammation, indigestion, prolapse (fallen out of place) of stomach, gastric ulcer, duodenal (having to do with the part of the intestines that connects to the stomach) ulcer.

Poria Formula (Wu Ling San)
Contents: Alisma, Poria, Atractylus, Polyporus, Cinnamon Twig.
Dosage: 10 to 20 drops 1 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Promotes urination, drains dampness, regulates fluid metabolism. Strengthens spleen-pancreas system. Used for acute and chronic kidney inflammation, uremia (a toxic condition resulting from kidney failure). Also used for indigestion, acute gastro-enteritis (inflammation of stomach and intestinal mucous membranes), stomach dilation, gastric relaxation, stomach prolapse (a dropping out of place). Note: Dosage and duration of use must be carefully limited in cases of spleen-pancreas system or kidney- adrenal system chi (energy) deficiency - symptoms of over-use are dizziness, vertigo, bland taste, reduced appetite. Formula is often combined with herbs to nourish and tone stomach and the spleen-pancreas system when there's chi deficiency. In cases of urinary difficulty with yin (bodily fluids) deficiency, yin tonic herbs are used with this formula to prevent worsening of yin deficiency.

Poria & Cinnamon Formula
Contents: Poria, Cinnamon, Atractylus, Chinese Licorice.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Strengthens nervous system. Tonic for heart and kidney-adrenal function. Very good for those who get dizzy easily. Note: Not for use during acute illness.

Preserve Vistas Combination (Zhu Jing Wan)
Contents: Dodder Seed, Prepared Rehmannia, Plantain Seed.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops before meals.
Usage: Tones and nourishes liver and kidney-adrenal system. Enriches yin (bodily fluids) and improves vision. Used for blurred vision which gets worse with exertion and improves with rest. Also used for sore and weak lower back and legs.

Rehmannia & Achyranthes Formula
Contents: Prepared Rehmannia, Astragalus, Dong Quai, Plantain Seed, Zizyphus Seed, Achyranthes, Ligusticum, Cinnamon.
Dosage: 30 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Recovery Formula. Builds energy and stamina. Speeds recovery after injury. Good for blood. Strengthens kidney-adrenal system, good for general deficiency. Strengthens bones. Note: Not for use during acute illness.

Rehmannia & Dioscoria Formula
Contents: Prepared Rehmannia, Dioscoria, Cornus Berry, Poria, Paeony Root, Alisma, Cinnamon.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Tonic for and regulates kidney-adrenal system, builds vitality. Tones reproductive organs. Helps build strong bones. Strengthens spine, brain. Tonic for eyes, ears. Note: Do not use during pregnancy. Not for use during acute illness.

Rehmannia Eight Formula
Contents: Prepared Rehmannia, Dioscoria, Cornus Berry, Poria, Alisma, Tree Peony, Cinnamon, Prepared Aconite.
Dosage: 30 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Used for chronic kidney inflammation, kidney contraction and atrophy, edema, difficulty in urination, inflammation of bladder, fatigue, cold limbs, numbness. Very good for hypertension with thirst, fatigue and frequent night urination in the elderly. Note: Rehmannia Eight is for all uses of Rehmannia Six Formula but for those with a delicate constitution.

Rehmannia Six Formula (Liu Wei Di Huang Wan)
Contents: Prepared Rehmannia, Cornus Berry, Dioscoria, Poria, Tree Peony, Alisma.
Dosage: 30 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Mainly used for yin (bodily fluids) deficiency. Very good for the elderly. Used for kidney inflammation, hardening of renal arteries and aterioles (small branches of an artery), frequent urination, painful or difficult urination, edema, diabetes, lower back pain, weak knees and muscles, neuralgia (nerve pain), vertigo, cataract, glaucoma, obesity, prostate enlargement, impotence. (Rehmannia Eight Formula is used for more severe cases).

Schizandra & Ma Huang Formula
Contents: Schizandra Berry, Lycium Berry, Chinese Licorice, Ma Huang, Siberian Ginseng.
Dosage: 20 to 30 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Increase energy and alertness, build vitality and endurance, calms, counteract stress. Also improves eyesight and complexion. Note: Not for use during acute illness.

Shen Formula
Contents: Chinese Ginseng, Chinese Asparagus Root, Spirit Poria, Dendrobium, Chinese Licorice, Red Jujube Date, Schizandra Bery, Lycium Berry, Cinnamon.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Shen (energy of heart - peace, illumination, unconditional love) tonic. Good for emotional fatigue.

Tantien Storm Formula
Contents: Morinda Root, Cornus Berry, Lycium Berry, Dioscoria, Psoralea Seed.
Dosage: 30 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Tantien (in Chinese herbal system, this is the reservoir and crucible for cultivation of energy) Storm. Kidney-adrenal system yang (sexual energy). Used for endurance and stronger erection. Note: Not for use during acute illness.

Two Chen Formula (Er Chen Tang)
Contents: Prepared Pinellia, Honey-fried Chinese Licorice, Poria, Citrus Peel.
Dosage: 30 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Strengthens function of spleen-pancreas system, dries dampness. Used for cough with lots of easily expectrated white phlegm. Also for nausea or vomiting. Note: Improper use can cause excessive thirst and dry throat. Contraindicated for cough due to lung yin (bodily) fluids deficiency unless modified with other herbs.

Two-Ultimate Formula (Er Zhi Wan)
Contents: Privet Berry, Eclipta.
Dosage: 30 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Tonic. Used for yin (bodily fluids) deficiency of liver and kidney-adrenal system. Good for dizziness, blurred vision, insomnia, dream-disturbed sleep, premature gray hair or hair loss, weak and sore lower back and knees, atrophy of lower extremeties.

Vital Essence Formula
Contents: Lycium Berry, Schizandra Berry, Chinese Ginseng, Deer Antler.
Dosage: 20 to 40 drops 2 to 3 times per day.
Usage: Enhances vital essence (basic life energy), powerful tonic to kidney-adrenal system. Powerful sexual tonic. Blood tonic. Good for vision and hearing (due to effect on liver and kidney-adrenal system). Note: Not for use during acute illness.

Zizyphus Formula (Suan Zao Ren Tang)
Contents: Zizyphus Seed, Anemarrhena, Poria, Ligusticum, Chinese Licorice.
Dosage: 10 to 20 drops 3 times per day.
Usage: Nourishes blood, calms spirit, clears heat (in Chinese herbology this means hyper-active function, not necessarily a feeling of heat). Used for sleeplessness caused by liver blood deficiency with heat from deficiency, irritability, night sweats, dizziness, palpitations, dry throat and mouth.
