4.27.99 - Thanks to two very special people in helping me fix the whole screen refreshing problem that I had been having. It appeared to be a HTML error whereas I inserted a wrong command and everyone just kept overlooking the obvious. 5.5.99 - Well, it appears the HatterCam is running smoothly and I have gotten some mail...some about my smoking. Sorry if you think you can get second hand smoke and cancer from just viewing via a computer screen but I will continue to smoke. Actually....what I am trying to do, is put the tobacco companies out of business by burning down their crops.......one cigarette at a time. So see? There is a method to my madness. <g>
5.6.99 - Finally!! I was up until 3:30am working on and finishing a federal brief to my VA claim that needs to be in their hands by the 27th. Done! Finished! Off my plate! They need 12 copies for the court and 2 for them and that is all done and will go in the mail registered receipt first thing tomorrow. Now that I have pained over that at all hours of the day and evening for the last two months, this Hatter will now be able to get some sleep at decent hours now and wait till the next round of crap they want to throw at me. I know they are going to go nuts when they see the brief as I used Roe v. Wade (an abortion case) in my brief that has been successful in another case dealing with abuse and bodily harm in a hospital. Roe v. Wade is NOT about abortion, it is about deprivation of bodily privacy and I know they will go nuts when they read it. All these years of watching Perry Mason and Matlock, I end up becoming the male equivalent of Ally McBeal. <g>
5.19.99 - Bummer! I just received e-mail from Darin Hayes of Uglies Underwear and they are pulling my affiliation with them. It appears as if they would rather have affiliates from commercial sites rather than from non-commercial sites and I am being dropped. I have been very successful in being an affiliate and have made Uglies Underwear some money while being one of their affiliates. I suggest that any person coming on to HatterCam please write Darin Hayes at darinh@uglies.com and inform them that you are not going to be interested in any of his UGLIES underwear until he re-instate me as an affiliate. If Mr. Hayes feels that he can make more money with commercial sites and ignore the little people that truly make his product buyable, then I feel that Mr. Hayes is doing the consumer a disservice and we should let him know right away. 9.17.99 - I have not been keeping up with RANTS for some time, so let me tell you all what has been happening. About 9 months ago I had met a very nice lady on line from China. We have exchanged pictures, phone numbers, and addresses and have been sending e-mails back and forth with each other daily. Sometimes the mail is like 4-7 pieces a day. We have spoken on the phone several times. There has been a constant letter writing campaign going on as well through postal mail. We have gotten to know each other very well and she has continually invited me to visit her in China. Well, I am taking the leap across the Pacific to China in November to see if there is more to this wonderful lady then meets the eye. I will keep you all informed about my trip when I return and just may post some photos of this trip when I return.
11.24.99 - Well, I went to China. I went on 9 November, 1999 and was supposed to return on the 19th. I was having so much fun, I stayed 4 more days and left on the late afternoon of the 23rd. Hua (the lady I visited) was GREAT!!! pictures She is a lovely lady and I think I am in love. I had spent many days trying to find some fault with this lady and just couldn't. This lady needs to come to America. Unfortunately, to do so, she needs a sponsor for her VISA and because I am on disability, it appears I may not be eligible to sponsor her and am in a serious search for sponsorship for her. This lady is a keeper and is worth fighting to get into this country and will continue to do so. As soon as I have pictures processed and scanned, I will post them on line here so keep your eyes open for that. pictures
2.18.00 - Well, thanks to some great friends, they are willing to co-sponsor Hua and the visa application had been submitted to INS and was received by them on Valentine's Day, February 14th. Now I just wait like an expectant father for the immigration process to take place. Once done and approved, all Hua needs to do is hop on a plane and she will be here. Kewl, huh? The tough part is waiting the 60 to 90 days for the results of the visa application.
3.11.00 - WHOOPEE!! I received a letter from INS today dated 3.7.00 saying that Hua's visa application was approved. It appears they processed and approved her application within 20 days rather then the 60 to 90 days I was previously told it would take. Now all we have to wait on, is her interview at the American Consulate in China and she is on her way.
5.7.00 - Well, Hua should be in Guangzhou, China waiting on her visa interview this week. It has been a long, grooling process and we are now at the final stages. I have my fingers crossed (also very hard to type in that condition....hahaha)
5.10.00 - WHOOPEE!! Well, Hua completed her interview at the American Consulate in Guangzhou, China and has booked her flight to be here. She will arrive on Friday, 05.19.00. I am sure she will have equal doses of excitement about arriving and fear in starting all over in a new country. My only hope is that the excitement surpasses the fear. <g>
6.1.00 - Well, Hua has been here about 2 weeks now and all is going great. There is an occasional bout of homesickness, but all in all, she has settled in quite well and thinks of here as home. She likes that it is cleaner and less crowded then in China...a sight that one would have to go to China to see to believe.
8.17.00 - Well, we did it. Hua and I got married on 8.13.00 at The Little Church of the West in Las Vegas, Nevada. In attendance was my sister and brother-in-law, who also gave Hua away, and a very close friend who is also Hua's co-sponsor. We got hitched without a hitch <g> and Hua was a very pretty bride dressed in a white silk Mandarin dress. Las Vegas was a very exciting experience for Hua and she wants to return again and again.
4.23.01 - Man, oh man! I needed to reformat my computer a few months ago and in doing so, I had forgotten how to configure the web camera software. It took me almost 3 weeks, but finally got it working once again. All I can say is "JOHNNY 5 IS ALIVE!!". Now that all is working again and I am back on the web, time to go back to real life again. Can someone give me directions? <grin>
8.15.01 - Well, Hua's 34th birthday was on 8.12.01, our first wedding anniversary was on 8.13.01 and my 50th birthday (50......the ULTIMATE "F" word!) was on 8.14.01. If I can survive all of that and still handle being F...F...F...FIFTY, I guess all is well in the universe. :o)
8.1.02 - Well, we finally made the move from Phoenix, Arizona (or as ex-Senator Bob Dole called it...."Natures LARGEST litter box") to Sacramento, California. A bit more expensive to live, but well worth getting out of that friggen hell hole. <grin>
10.9.02 - Well, off to China again. Hua has not seen her family for almost 2 1/2 years and we are going back for a family visit (Hey! I am ACTUALLY family, this time). We have lots of presents to bring...personally, I think we need a bigger plane for them, but what the hell. I think Hua will now see China through different eyes now, after being here for so long. We will see what happens. In either event, I know we will have some fun while in China. I will write more once we return.
