William Battle*; b. 1731; d. 1781; planter and land owner of Edgecombe County NC. He was the son of Elisha Battle (1723-1799) and Elizabeth Sumner. Elizabeth was the daughter of John Sumner.
m. Charity Horn*, daughter of Henry Horn*. Henry Horn* was a Quaker, and Charity was "dismissed" from the Quaker sect for not marrying a Quaker.
