Brief Biography:
John Adams (1735-1826); grad. Harvard College, A.B., 1755; admitted to Bar, 1758. He opposed the Stamp Act, was elected to the MA Legislature, served in the Continental Congress. He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. He negotiated the Peace Treaty with England in Paris, and he was the Minister from the U.S. to England, 1785-1788. He was Vice President of the U.S. under George Washington, 1789-1797, and became the 2nd President of the United States, 1797-1801. He retired and died in Quincy MA, previously known as Braintree.
