Mary Palmer Johnston*; b. Jan 14, 1786, Town Creek, Edgecombe County NC; d. Feb 23, 1866, Chapel Hill NC. She was the daughter of Amos Johnston*; b. Apr. 8, 1746; d. 1816; and Dorcas Williams* (1760-___?). Amos Johnston* was the Chairman of the Edgecombe County Court and a Revolutionary Patriot. Amos was the son of Jacob Johnston* (1714-1782) and Mary Waller*. Jacob Johnston* came to NC from Virginia, where he was born in the Isle of Wight or Southampton County VA, in 1714, and died in Edgecombe County, NC on Dec 11, 1781. Mary Waller was born in Southampton County, Virginia, in c1715.

Brief Biography:

Mary Palmer Johnston* (1786-1866) was familiarly known as "Polly". Within the family, she was called "Pretty Polly".
