Brief Biography:

Mary Elizabeth Verner was born in Gainesville AL the first born child of her parents. In her early childhood, her father was in Central Africa, but by 1910, she moved with the family to the Panama Canal Zone. In 1919, when Mary was seventeen years old, she and her family moved back to the mainland United States. After a short stay in New York City, her family settled in the small town of Brevard NC. Mary graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she met her husband. After their marriage, Mary and Bill Allston lived at several locations in Miami, FL, finally settling in the community, Sunny Isles, on North Miami Beach, where she worked as a professional librarian, supported environmental causes, and was a director of a regional unit of the Girl Scouts. She also supported the Camp Fire Girls. She died in Miami in about 1987. Mary and William had two Children:

Laura Beatrice "Bea" Allston, b. Aug. 17, 1934, d. July, 2001 in Sylva, NC. She graduated from the University of North Carolina (UNC), Chapel Hill, 1956, having majored in music. Until recently she was living in Cullowhee NC. Bea pursued a highly successful career as an operatic soprano in Los Angeles. "Bea" was first married in 1956 to Robert Edwin Bedford, b. Apr. 26, 1934 and had two daughters:
- Martha Elizabeth "Lisa" Bedford, b. Oct. 21, 1957. Lisa graduated from the University of CA, Berkeley and went on to obtain her doctorate (Ph.D.) degree from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, in physical anthropology. She now resides in Upstate New York.
- Nancy Elaine "Lakshmi" Bedford, b. Feb. 3, 1959. Nancy married Jon Myers and had three children:
  - Krishni Myers, b. Feb. 28, 1978;
  - Balaramisha "Rami" Myers, b. Oct. 21, 1982
    - m. Carlos Duarte
    - Rami and Carlos have two daughters:
      - Leila Rose Marie Duarte; b. Nov. 27, 2003
      - Liliana Sage Duarte; b. Mar. 21, 2006
  - Nila Devi Myers, b. June 30, 1984.
  Laura Beatrice "Bea" (Allston) Bedford was divorced and remarried to Donald Seldon "Don" Ware, son of Guy Fred Ware and Eloise Mabel (Engleman) Ware. Don was previously married to Patricia Lee Cumming and had four children: Dan Ware; Mike Ware; Debbie Ware; and Scott Ware.
Robert Francis "Bob" Allston, b. Jan 13, 1937, Miami, FL, d. Jan. 17, 2004, in Jinju, Korea. He graduated from the Univ. of Fla., Gainesville, 1958, as a business major. Robert worked for IBM for awhile in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was a sailing enthusiast and had traveled extensively along the east coast of the United Stated and in Europe. Later, he settled in Florida to run a small computer mapping and land surveying business. Toward the end of his life he was involved in a fruitless campaign to reform the justice system, as the result of disputes with local civil authorities, in Lee County, FL, over the mishandling of property rights. Bob also taught English to foreign students enrolled at the University of Florida, in Gainesville. He never married, and had no children.
