Brief Biography:
Mary Cleaveland* (1720-1765), spelled her name "Cleveland" in later life and according to the Cleaveland/Cleveland genealogy as quoted from the Paine genealogy: "She was an ornament to her sex and indeed to all her Christian friends." Mary is directly descended from Moses Cleaveland* (1624-1701/2) and Anne Winn* (c1626-b1682), the progenitors of the Cleveland family that produced President Grover Cleveland.
Through her grandfather, Elisha Paine* (1658-1735/6), Mary Cleveland is descended from Mayflower passenger, Stephen Hopkins*.
