Brief Biography:
John Arnold* (c1726-c1790), is the son of Johann George* (or Georg) Arnold (c1703-c1769) and Anna Maria Barth* of Zuzenhausen, Germany.
John Arnold* (c1726-c1790) was born in Zuzenhausen and emigrated with his parents to America in 1736, when he would have been about 10 years old.
One source, a book Allegheny Passage, by Emmert Bittinger, lists John's mother as Anna Maria Barth*. John and his family emigrated to Philadelphia in about 1736, when John would have been about 10 years old.
The authoritative record by Mr. Neverman shows that John's wife by whom all his children were born was Anna Margaretha Ahlbach* (1726-c1785). This record also lists another spouse named Catherine (Whipp) Ludwick, the widow of Philip Ludwick, an Elder of the German Baptist Brethren Church (Dunkards) in Amwell NJ. John married her in about 1786.
John was Dunkard who had migrated from near Amwell, NJ, where an early community of Brethren had been established by Elder Johannes Naas following his migration in 1735.
According to the Odenkirk Familty History (see references below), all of John's children were by his first wife Margaret Albaugh. She
died in or before 1785. Afterward, he married his second wife, Catharine (Whipp) Ludwick, who was the widow of Elder Philip Ludwick (Ledwick). This Philip Ludwick was evidently a minister because he was one of several who had been appointed to a special committee by Annual Conference in 1785 to visit the Posers Church on the South Branch of the Potomac in Virginia because of difficulties there in the church. She brought several children to her marriage with Philip Ludwick, including Mary "Mollie" Ludwick*, who married Samuel Arnold* (1765-1831), John's son by Margaret Albaught.
According to the Ginger Family Genealogy, John's parents, Johann Georg Arnold* and Anna Maria Barth* had 8 children, all but the last (Andrew) born in Zuzenhausen, Germany:

- John Arnold* (c1726-c1790), see above.
- Daniel Arnold (c1726-c1800), of Fayette County PA; m. Agnes Stoner and had 8 children
- Samuel Arnold; b. Aug 1, 1728; d. Aug 3, 1808, York County PA.; m. Elizabeth Lehn, daughter of John Lehn; b. Dec 26, 1736; d.Oct 10, 1814, a Adams PA, bur. at Mummert's Meeting House Cemetery. Samuel and Elizabeth had 8 children.
- Johann Martin Arnold; b. Jul 6, 1731
- Johannes Deitrich Arnold; b. Feb 25, 1734.
- Andrew Arnold; b. c1739, Prince George County, MD; d. c Feb 1821, Botetourte County VA; m. Catherine Stoner, daughter of John and Catherine (___?) Stoner
Also, according to the Odenkirk Family Genealogy, John's paternal grandparents, Wendel Arnold* and Anna Catharine Schneider* had 4 children in Zuzenhausen:
- Hans Adam Arnold.
- Johann Christopher Arnold.
- Johann Christian Arnold.
- Johann Georg Arnold*; b. Nov. 5, 1702; d. 1768; m. on Oct 17, 1724 to Anna Maria Barth*, see above.
