Notes and Links

George Pettigrew; b. Apr 14, 1746, in Chambersburg, Franklin County, PA; d. Mar 7 1818, in Ste. Genevieve County, MO, or as one source indicates, Moniteau County, MO. The county lines were rapidly changing during this period of time.

George is thought to have served in the American Revolution under General Marion. Also, a pay role of a troop of Cavalry, 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, commanded by Captain Benjamin Easley shows that a "George Petergrow" was a member of this Militia from Oct. 25, 1793 until Jan 22, 1794, but this is quite a few years after the surrender of Lord Cornwallis in 1781.

One source indicates that George had two wives, the first of whom bore him two children and the second gave him ten.
