Nancy Craighead; b Mar. 17, 1740 in Octorora PA; d. Nov. 9, 1790, Waxhaw SC. The Biography of Andrew Jackson reports that Nancy's marriage took place in Waxhaw NC (now SC) and Nancy was living in her father's home in Sugar Creek NC. at that time
m1. Rev. William Richardson in 1759 in Waxhaw SC. Nancy had no children with Rev. Richardson. Rev. William died on July 20, 1771 from strangulation with a bridle, and Nancy was accused of his murder, but acquitted by a witchcraft trial. This incident is described in some detail in the Life of Andrew Jackson by Marquis James. George Dunlap soon thereafter arrived on the scene and married her.
m. Edward Alexander Crawford, b. June 25, 1770. Edward is the son of James Crawford, Sr. and Jennet "Jane" Hutchinson, who is the sister of Elizabeth Hutchinson, President Andrew Jackson's mother.
