Brief Biography:

Gherit Thoenisz Middach* (c1500-___?) was a son of Anthonis Gherits Middach* (c1480-1546) and Aleijt Petersdaughter* (___?-1526). Two other children of Anthonis and Aleijt are known. One was Marijken Anthonis Gheritsdaughter, who died after May 14, 1540, and married Lenart Anthoenisz. Civil records indicate that she "conceded her mother's heritage to her father on May 14, 1540". These concession papers may have allowed her father, Anthonis Gherits Middach* (c1480-1546) to own land that was otherwise denied to Jews, indicating that Anthonis Gherits Middach* (c1480-1546) was born a Jew, but married a gentile. The other child of Anthonis and Aleijt was Scalck Thoeniss Middach who died after Sep. 6, 1518. The gender of Scalck is presumed male.
