Aaron Cleveland (Jr.); b. July 9, 1680, Woburn MA; d. about Dec. 1, 1755, either in that part of Cambridge known as Mystic (now Medford, Middlesex County MA, or Norwich CT.
- m. Abigail Waters, on Jan. 1, 1701/2. She was b. Nov. 29, 1683, Woburn; d. Jan. 6, 1761, probably in Norwich CT. She is the daughter of Samuel Waters and Mary Hudson.
- Aaron (Jr.) and Abigail had 10 children:
- Aaron Cleveland; b. Oct. 20, 1702, Woburn; d. Nov. 5, 1714, Cambridge; at age 12.
- Samuel Cleveland; b. May 17, 1704, Woburn.
- Abigail Cleveland; b. May 10, 1706, Cambridge.
- Dorcas Cleveland; b. b. 1708.
- John Cleveland; b. Aug. 26, 1710, Charlestown MA; d. young.
- Josiah Cleveland; b. Aug. 21, 1713, Charlestown MA.
- Aaron Cleveland (III), (1715-1757), a direct ancestor of Pres. Grover Cleveland.
- m. Susanna Porter (1716-1789); daughter of Rev. Aaron Porter and Susanna Sewall. Aaron (III) and Susanna had 10 children.
- John Cleveland; bap. July 18, 1719, Cambridge. He lived at Haddam, Middlesex County CT. He was a house carpenter and survived falling from a church steeple at Haddam. He was a "fine hautboy [oboe] player". It is not known whether he ever married or not.
- Moses Cleveland; bap. July 19, 1719, Cambridge.
- Mary Cleveland; bap. Jan. or July 7, 1724, Cambridge.
Brief Biography:
Aaron Cleaveland (Jr.) (1680-1755), moved often and lived in many places; Woburn, Medford, Charlestown, in MA, and Millington and Haddam CT. He was Constable in 1707-8, an office which had many of the characteristics of a magistrate, and was conferred upon men of education. Aaron (Jr.) kept a tavern at Cambridge, on the western side of the Mystic River. He was also a builder and a contractor.
Aaron Cleveland (Jr.) is also known as Captain Aaron Cleveland, indicating that he had some knowledge of boats and boating.
