Mission:To provide news/links concerning gaming, Windows and tech developments; along
with what in the last couple of years has become known as a blog, except we've
been doing it for ten years.
Reviews of games are short and to the point, links to more detailed reports
may be provided.
History:Originally this site was more or less a collection of bookmarks first published
in 1995 under the name BigKahuna's Surfin' Safari (version 1.0). In 1996, the site was remodeled and the focus began to settle
on gaming and Windows developments (version 2.0) and still used a single page format.
In 1997 the site was redesigned - changing to a simple framed format (version 3.0)
and presenting news items from the gaming, hardware and Windows scenes. In November of 1998,
the site was remodeled again and converted to a fully framed format (version
4.0). The hits
the site receives per year leveled off at about 32,000 in the year 2000.
The site design was again modified slightly in early 2001 (version
5.0) and the
same design was used through 2005. In 2005, we celebrated our 10th year on
the internet. In January of 2006, we dropped frames and unveiled a completely new design and
new name - BigKahuna's Surf Shop (version 6.0). The
search page was dropped too. The
main page is dedicated to posting news snippets from the gaming, software,
Windows
and tech scenes, while providing links to the latest patches and utilities.
In 2007 the search bar that was part of the site for many years was brought back
and placed on the main page (version 7.0) for those that
use the site as their Homepage.
The focus remains gaming, Windows and tech developments.
