Jenny Holzer


       Jenny Holzer ( see also Guggenheim Museum web site about Holzer) is best known as a practitioner of what is called text based art. She has parlayed her beginnings as a spray painting graffiti artist in New York City into the relatively comfortable financial income of a respected and award winning mainstream artist whose work has been exhibited in some of the most famous museums in the world. Although I certainly don't agree with the political bent of her work which is far to the left of Mao Tse-Tung , the inescapable fact of the noteriety her work has achieved makes it something worth reading.
