The artwork of M. C. Escher is among the most original and unusual any man has ever produced. He is most admired by intellectuals, especially the college crowd and in particular the mathamatically and scientifically inclined. The famous surface covering technique, which is Escher's signature design, was developed from what he saw on a visit to the medeaval Moorish palace The Alhambra in Granada, Spain. I have admired Escher's work for over twenty-five years and viewing his art is as stimulating and exhilerating now as it was when I first saw his marvelous prints.
Escher is, of course, a superstar in the internet community as evidenced by the myriad and diversity of web sites devoted to him. The above image is Escher's Reptiles which has been one of my personal favorites for many years.
