The story of John Wilkes Booth (pictured) and the
assassination of
president Abraham Lincoln is the 19th century equivalent to the
Kennedy assassination and, incredibly, to the story of Elvis
Presley.
Like the Kennedy assassination there were wild theories of
many different conspiracies for decades after the murder of
Lincoln.
Officially, Booth was killed in a burning barn shortly after the
assassination. But there were persistent rumors of Booth
sightings right up until the beginning of the 20th century. You
may read the story of how a man who died in Oklahoma in 1903
was supposedly John
Wilkes Booth.
