Restoration of fine antique American, English, French and Swiss pocket watches is a specialty.
by: John Crabtree, Professional Watchmaker since 1975,
Serving Clients Worldwide.

With twenty-nine years of experience in fine clock repair, I am able to offer my clients professional clock repair, fine watch repair and timely service at reasonable rates. I am factory-authorized to service Chelsea and Howard-Miller clocks as well as Urgos, Hermle and Kieninger movements found in many brands of clocks as well as countless other modern and antique movements.
The French Crystal Regulator clock shown above and right is one example of a complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration. This clock was very tarnished with age and the accent pieces had lost their gold plate over the years. I completely restored this piece, including re-gilding the golden accessory pieces in my own shop and refinishing all 79 brass pieces making up the case. The movement was similarly restored to like-new mechanical condition.
I service
American, English, German, French and Swiss movements including
but not limited to: Herschede
tubular bell models,
Ulysse Nardin,
Thomas Mercer and
Hamilton Marine
Chronometers, Fusee-drive clocks, weight-driven and
spring-driven clocks of all makes, chiming clocks,
"Regulator" clocks and cuckoo clocks.

Chronometers are calibrated to NIST (formerly NBS) and are returned to the customer with a certificate of NIST-traceable calibration with test data. This service is offered on other precision clocks for a nominal fee. (I am the only clock/watchmaker in North America able to offer NIST certification.)
Fine clocks
require special care. That care is based on years of training,
study and experience. With proper servicing, your fine clock can
be not only a beautiful, but a functional part of your home for
many decades. Proper cleaning, lubrication and regulating are a
good regimen of preventative care. However, even with the best of
care, a clock will need occasional repairs. I can assist you in
both the preventative and repair aspects of owning a fine clock.
Call, fax or e-mail me
today to discuss your particular clock and its individual
requirements.
I specialize in servicing antique clocks, clocks with "complications" and old, hand-made clocks which require hand-made parts. My shop is equipped with the finest tools, supplies and equipment for servicing your clock from a simple regulation of the time-keeping to a complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration. I will be glad to discuss your clock repair and restoration needs with you and I will offer professional repairs at very fair prices.
I am also a specialist in American Railroad Watches and pocket watch repair for brands such as Elgin, Hamilton, Waltham and Illinois.
I am also an authorized clock dealer for Chelsea and Howard-Miller, offering both of these fine lines of new clocks to my clients.

I do not sell watches. I only work on them. However, if you are looking for a good deal on a fine watch, I can refer you to a number of good dealers who will take good care of you. I can also tell you of some to avoid. Feel free to let me know what you seek and I'll do my best to put you in touch with a responsible, professional watch dealer.
