Charlie and I have been married for seven years. We met when I returned to school at age 40 to study accounting; I was a student in a business statistics course he was teaching (we had one of those shocking student-faculty affairs you read about - albeit, a year after I was in his class!).
We rejoice at the series of coincidences that enabled us to meet: I had changed sections from my original assignment, to make a more efficient schedule; he was teaching the course only because a colleague was on leave for the year. Even so, I had to go break my leg in the summer of 1991 to get his attention fully!
Before I returned to school, I had spent 16 years at Yale University, as the Curator of Rare Books at the Yale Center for British Art.
Now I am an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois. I love teaching, enjoy IWU's very personable students, and am flourishing in the humanistic environment there. You can read more about my life at IWU on my website there
I am a 1971 graduate of Radcliffe College, where I studied medieval art history. After college, I studied art history at the Courtauld Institute of the University of London. While living in London, I travelled a good deal within Britain and on the Continent, a habit I continued while working at Yale. After London, I studied Library Science at Columbia University, and then went to work at Yale
.
Moving from Connecticut to Illinois in the summer of 1990 was an adventure of sorts. It was very exciting to strike out towards a new life, like a new age pioneer.
