Hi, my name is JJ. How can you not be astonished at the talent of Carole King? To me, she's a one-woman musical wonder of the 20th century, a legend whose diverse musical talents can't be touched by anyone. Not enough people realize that Carole King was writing incredible rock classics at the tender age of 16. Her teamwork with Gerry Goffin (her first husband, and the father of Carol's talented daughter Sherry Goffin Kondor), produced such classic hits as "Locomotion", "One Fine Day", "Hey Girl", "Chains", and "Hi De Ho", to mention only a few.
My interest in Carole King began with the song, "Up on the Roof". I grew up in the 60's; I loved the incredible songs from "Tapestry", Carole's most acclaimed LP, which garnered her a gold record. My day began and ended with the strains of "So Far Away", "You've Got a Friend", "It's Too Late", "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman"... Not only are they classic, incredible songs, but Carole sang them with so much down to earth passion, I hear that passion in all of her songs, a passion for life, that is at once so natural, so appealing.
In the past few years I've discovered some of Carole King's later albums, my favorite of which is "City Streets". City Streets is a timeless album, one whose songs are as fresh today as they were nearly a decade ago, when the album was released. I personally love every song on the album.
