1. Who can use this chatroom?
Anybody can use this chatroom. Just make sure discussion does not have obscenity, distasteful topic or flaming.

2. How can I join the discussion?

Enter your name or nickname in the box of the lower frame right next to 'HANDLE'. Key in the color of your text. Press 'Enter' key to join the discussion. Do not use quote signs in the handle section at all. If you do, it will show your handle on the first try, but not thereafter.

3. What are the features of this chatroom?

allow HTML, so you can use: different fonts, sizes, colors or images our Professionally Styled Music Wall so chatters can listen to music as well your IP address is NOT visible A feature from Mirabilis to send ICQ messages from the WWW What color you want as a background (only tech support can change this) What color you want as default text What color you want their links What color you want their visited links And a chatroom title embedded into the message frame

4. Can I make the left frame or section of the screen disappear?

No. But you can use your mouse to click on the vertical line and drag it to the far left side of the screen. The left section will look like it has disappear.

5. Can I change the color of my text in the middle of the discussion?

Yes, you can. Simply go to the lower frame, click on 'CHANGE HANDLE', then overwrite the color specified there.

Another method:
the default color is gray. you can change the color by including the following code before the text in your name:
 your name 

any color code can be used. be careful if you are experimenting because if no code is assigned it comes out black. again, always be sure to close your tag.

color and size can be combined into one single tag such as:

 your name 

there must be a closing tag for each tag with the word "font" in it. it is important that there never be a space on the large side of the brackets and no space on either side of the = sign.

6. Can I change my font?

You can. Remember that font faces can only be seen by computers that have that particular font loaded, so even though you have loaded a really cool font and it looks great to you, it will still show in another computer as their default if they do not have it.

Do not use quote signs in the handle section at all. If you do, it will show your handle on the first try, but not thereafter. Only one-word font faces can therefore be used in the name box.

you can assign a specific font face for your name as follows:

 YOUR NAME (quake fonts only work with caps)

combined font tags can be written as follows:

 your name 

note that the font name is case sensitive, so check the way it is written in your word processor or some other place that lists your font names.

7. How can I include images during the chat discussion?

First of all, the only images that will show will be images posted on a server somewhere (i.e., they must have a url!) you cannot post an image from your own computers hard drive.

Simply insert the image url into the following code:

 <img src=http://www.yourimageaddy.jpg> of course a gif image would end in .gif.

Be careful with large images, because they really take up too much space, make you look pretty immature, and just ruin things for people with slower computers. Limit your name image size to 10k or smaller.

Aligning text graphics is difficult, but can be done thru experimentation using (step up) and (step down) tags. remember though that these also change the size of the following font, so it will affect your message text if you aren't careful.

When I make my name graffix, here is what I do, so that I come out with my text font one size larger than the default (size 3).

 <img src=http://www.starvoice.com/euph.jpg>

this does the following: the step down commands at the beginning do nothing but change text font, so that when I step up at the end, it leaves the text one size larger and kicks it up one step to align with my name text better (usually your graphic will have some parts of text below the line or have a small bottom margin you need to compensate for).

8. Can I use a link or URL as my handle?

Hrefs in the handle do not work, since they require quote marks.

9. Are quotes allowed in the message text?

Quote marks ARE allowed in the message text area.

10. Can I change my handle in the middle of the discussion?

Yes, you can. Simply go to the lower frame, click on 'CHANGE HANDLE', then overwrite the name specified there.

11. Can I change the size of my font?

The default size is 2. you can make your name bigger (up to size 10) by putting the following code before the text for your name:

 your name 

Always be sure to close your tag (meaning the final otherwise it will make all the font large).

12. How can I include URL in a message text?

This is the format to follow:
 <a href=http://www.linkurl.com/filename.html target="newbrowserwindow">{click here}

You can try using this example:
 <a href="http://www.concentric.net/~fo2945/parchcrafting>"{click here}

The text 'click here' will appear as a message text. When you click on it, it will open a new window with URL specified.

13. What is the usage of the 'LINK' box beneath the 'HANDLE' box?

Whatever URL you specified in the LINK box will be the link website for your HANDLE. When people click on your name in the message screen, it will open a new window using the URL specified in the LINK box.

14. Is there a way to know who are the people in the chatroom?

The ability to see who is in the chatroom is unavailable at the moment. The technical staff of Starvoice is currently working on this.

15. How can I save the chat discussion?

The ability to save chat discussions is not available, only way to do this is to COPY and paste as things go along. I am sorry for any inconvenience.

16. How can I send an ICQ message from the web?

Click on 'ICQ' on the top of the screen to link to a form page where you can prepare your message.

17. How can I send an email to the technical support of Starvoice?

Click on 'EMAIL' on the top of the screen and it will link you to a form. Do you: have chat topic suggestion/s for future chat? like to host/lead a chat on a particular topic? have any comments, suggestions and feedback on the chat?
