My Genealogy Page

My ancestors came from Bohemia, Poland, and Sweden. They all immigrated to the United States during the last half of the 19th century and settled in Chicago. My ancestors arrived in Chicago starting in 1872, the year after the Great Chicago Fire. They continued to come until 1889, when the last of my immigrant ancestors arrived.

Some have asked why I'm not researching the surname 'James'. It's because my paternal grandfather and his brother changed thier last name from 'Januszewski' to 'James' in the 1920's. My grandfather owned a radio sales and repair shop and his brother owned an electronics firm. They found that people were more receptive to business men with English surnames than Polish surnames.
