Jozef Szudrowicz was born on December 22, 1853 in Lochowo, Kreis Bromberg, West Prussia (Bydgoszcz, Poland), the son of August Szudrowicz and Karolina Mienkwicka. He was baptized on January 08, 1854 at Bromberg (Bydgoszcz). His patrons (godparents) were Adalbert Stulinski and Katarzyna Szabinska. He departed Bremen, Germany on the "Smidt" on November 30, 1872 and arrived in New York on January 02, 1873. He married Katarzyna Wierzba on June 28, 1875 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Chicago. Together they had ten children; Maryanna, John, Martha, Frank, Magdalene, Thomas, Josephine, Valentine, Michael and Stanley. He became a US citizen on November 03, 1884 at Cook County Court. He worked as a day laborer and plasterer. He died on January 02, 1911 in Chicago from chronic nephritis. He was buried in a term grave on January 05, 1911 at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles.
