The best available evidence says that Erick Medeen was born on November 03, 1865 in Kolmar, Sweden. He came to the United States in either 1885 or 1887. He married Wilhelmina Albertina Larson on February 20, 1892 at Saron Luthern Church in Maplewood Township (now part of Chicago.) Together they had nine children; Evald, Eric, Mabel, Elmer, George, Melvin, Ethel, Kenneth and Howard. He was made a US citizen on October 24, 1892 in the Circuit Court of Cook County. He was a ironworker and bridge builder and worked for the American Bridge Company. He helped to build many of the bridges that span the Chicago River. He died on March 28, 1920 in Chicago from cirrhosis of the liver. He was buried on March 30, 1920 at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Chicago.
