Ondrej "Andrew" Polanek was born on November 29, 1872 in Cista, Bohemia, Austria, the son of Petr Polanek and Josefa Rusy. On April 25, 1880 he arrived in Baltimore, MD on the "Strassburg". He was made a US citizen on October 12, 1892 in the Superior Court of Cook County. He married Marie Vysa on November 12, 1892 at a civil ceremony in Chicago. Together they had eight children; Andrew, Rose, Josephine, Emma, Lillian, Ann, Irvin and Beatrice. He worked most of his life as a tinsmith. He died on May 04, 1917 in Chicago from an accidental fall. He was buried on May 08, 1917 at Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago.
