Creepy close up
Well well well... It's finally
done, well almost. I'm going to do something with
the holes, a little light show
with some LED's... it'll be cool. As you can see, I matched the
colour of the cab to the theremin
using the same ma-ha-goney stain to get that rich red
look. I'm going to do one more
update when I do the light show thing and try to get some
better pictures up. It's just
impossible to get the right lighting with artificial light sources
so, I'm going to do it outside
next time. It's just a very dark colour, but it's nice looking in
real life. The sides of the
cab were done with a strong felt like material that's used on the
outside of those big professional
stage speakers you see rock bands use. I got the stuff
from a shop here in town that
makes the afore mentioned speaker & amp cabs for a
living. It's good stuff. I then
finished the edges with some black cotton piping.
Yes... that IS the original Philco
logo under the original eschuction plate.
I carefully sanded around it
during refinishing and now, with four coats of urethane over
the top of it, it should be
well preserved for awhile. Well, that's it for now. Please, feel
free to write me with any questions
or comments you have.
