Packard Bell Support is an oxymoron -- regardless of where and how you buy their machines. I have spent days trying to reach PB Tech Support via phone, fax ad E-mail without success. the problem is installatio of a U. S. Robotics 28.8 External modem. I spent a solid 2 hours on the phone with U. S. Robotics trying to get it installed. Their Tech Dept simply gave up, saying they couldn't figure out the PB Com port arrangement. PB's sub-zero "Hotline" is permantently busy. Well, not exactly. I got through to an automated message after two weeks and over 100 calls. I was told by the recording that I had not called during "normal business hours."According to the PB Quickstart manual, that would be 24 hours a day. According to the message it is 8 AM to 5 PM Mountain Time. Considering I called at 5 PM Eastern Time, you'd think somebody would be at work. You can't even reach them on the Internet. I'll never, ever buy another Packard Bell machine. The Legend 822CDT is my first and last PB. I've used Twinhead and Acer. Both brands have been trouble-free.

They don't build anything. They can't get service schematics for equipment. If a unit fails within warantee, you get a new one, and yours is refurbished/sold somewhwe; but after waranttee YOU get stuck, its unrepairable!!!
