I purchased a Toshiba Libretto 50CT with extras, including additional 16mb ram from PC Mall. Two weeks after receipt, the hard drive crashed. Toshiba replacedthe hard drive but sent a letter with the computer saying "the optional extended memory is a non-certified part. The extended memory you have chosen is incompatible with your unit and you will experience performance problems in the future. Toshibarecommends the use of a certified SIMM module for the Libretto (One-sided Kingston memory.)" Indeed, the next time I used the unit with the modem plugged in, the computer overheated to the point that it began to do a scanning procedure as it did whenthe hard drive crashed. I turned it off until the next morning, tried againwith the same results. At the urging of a friend, I have been trying to return the product but PC Mallhas been stalling, not returning my calls and trying to get me to go away. I faxed all information to them and now they're saying that unit isn't returnable. If theyhad told me this, I would not have bought it. They now are sending me the correctram to install myself. I am not a technician nor do I want to spend anymore moneyto have someone else install the ram for me. The problems with the machine continueand I no longer want it as I have a bad taste in my mouth for PC Mall and on-lineshopping. My job entails travelling and because of this, much time has elapsed from the receiptof the computer and my trying to return it. I feel I was sold a "lemon" as my problemsstarted almost immediately. Is there anyway you can help me get the word out about this and perhaps help me get a complete refund of the $1601.40 that I have spent?Sincerely, J.L.Bates
