The current configuration on my Commodore 64 is:
The Commodore 64 was at one time one of the most popular personal computers. Part of the 64k of ram was overlayed by the rom which contained a BASIC interpreter and could be paged out. The highest available resolution was 320 by 200 in 16 colors, this was fit into only 9000 bytes of memory. This was done using two sections of memory to describe the image one was 1000 bytes long and formed a 40 by 25 matrix of 8 by 8 blocks that chose which two colors were available in that part of the screen. The other was 8000 bytes long and chose which of these two colors was actually used for each individual pixel. This machine was also well known for the fact that its intelligent disk drives (they had the same processor as the computer along with a small quantity of scratchpad ram where ingenious hackers actually placed programs which ran concurrently with the main computer) had horrendously slow transfer rates through a serial interface (without one of the disk acceleration systems, the disk drive was actually slower than the tape drive).
