The Amiga 1000 is the original computer in the Amiga line of personal computers. They originally came with 256kb of chip memory upgradable to 512kb internally. The special characteristics that separate it from other Amiga computers are the keyboard garage under the CPU, 256kb write protectable RAM for reading Kickstart information into from disk rather than having it in ROM, and the serial and parallel ports being of the opposite gender from other Amigas.
