MATHEMATICS IN MY MULTI-AGE CLASSROOM |

WELCOME TO MY HOME PAGE
The first issue I discarded that first year was " ability grouping". It was a difficult first step. I couldn't explain how I broke down my groups to others and it was important for me to justify my thinking. Therefore, I created a flow chart which showed my flexible grouping strategies.
Another issue was the curriculum which took a little more effort on my part than ability grouping. The curriculum for each grade level made it difficult for me to address the needs of the students. Some students just couldn't fit into the curriculum because they weren't ready. Others didn't fit because they were too advanced. Creating a lesson plan for each grade level was an inappropriate thing for me to do (I thought at the time and still do). There are other issues I'd like to share. I have provided this web site to include different perspectives about teaching math in the multi-age classroom.
