GOD IS IMMORAL
Wayne Everett Orgar
June 1999
Isaiah 45:7 - "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things." Amos 3:6 "...shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it?" Genesis 1:31- "And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." If evil is a subset of good, than how can we tell evil from good? Is this not amorality?
#########################################################################
If a god exists and it is omnipotent,
Than the universe, heaven, and hell are unnecessary.
#########################################################################
Nothing could force an omnipotent god to make a universe, heaven, or hell.
Thus, the universe, heaven, and hell are unnecessary.
If it is necessary for the universe, heaven, and hell to exist,
Than there are principles greater than god is.
God could not be omnipotent, because there is something greater.
##########################################################################
If the universe, heaven, and hell are unnecessary,
Than the suffering from natural events or illness is unnecessary.
The evil caused by others is unnecessary.
The billions of people who are in hell (if it exists) are unnecessary.
Going to heaven (if it exists) is unnecessary.
It is immoral to allow or create suffering that is unnecessary.
Thus god is immoral.
##########################################################################
Humans try to alleviate suffering,
Thus, humans are more moral than god is.
##########################################################################
My desire to have something unnecessary, even if I think it is a greater good,
Does not justify creating or allowing something else that is unnecessary and causes suffering of another.
Causing or allowing unnecessary suffering of another is immoral.
God is immoral.
##########################################################################
If you think that existence mandates suffering,
Than there are principles greater than god is.
A god has to follow these principles.
Therefore, we should worship principles above a god.
Principles do not require a god, for they are greater than a god is.
########################################################################
Even if the nature of our existence requires suffering,
Nothing requires our existence. The suffering is unnecessary.
#########################################################################
It boils down to this:
Unnecessary billions in heaven do not morally justify one person in hell.
Belief in the punishing Christian god is immoral.

Questions to Ponder
If suffering is good in the long term, than what is bad? Does bad exist?
If dropping a bomb on a village causes the village citizens to come together and help each other, are you going to say that the bombing was good? Would you recommend this as a moral practice to unite people? Does the good really justify the bad? Does heaven justify hell?
Why not seek another way to achieve good that does not cause suffering?
If good or bad can result in bad or good in the unknowable future, how do we determine what is bad or good now? Suppose suffering is justified because it may result in good in the future. Does this not result in an amoral system? Is this not the same as saying do whatever you want to somebody else because it may turn out well in the future?
Is there not a moral difference between an individual choosing to sacrifice a lesser value for a greater value; and believing that you live in an unnecessary system that allows or causes suffering of innocent people for an unnecessary outcome?
If suffering is good and of god, is it immoral to stop suffering before it occurs? Should we not try to stop disease before it occurs? If we could stop an impending tornado, shouldn't we? Do we not conceive of the prevention of suffering as being moral? Do we not hold that the prevention of suffering is better than treating suffering once it occurs? Why don't we hold a god to the same high standard that we attempt to reach? Is this not a double standard? Are not double standards immoral?
Romans 8: 28 - "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose." Do you really believe this? If so, why do you complain just as much as the unbeliever when you lose your job, break up with your fiancee, or disagree with a presidential policy? It's all for the good! Does nothing turn out badly? Do you have the faintest notion of how to tell good from bad? If it all turns out good for you, how can it matter what you do today?
