The following are tips I have gained from experience. Some of
these are not directly related to photography, but in the long run
can help your photographer and all close family involved in the
wedding...
Make a schedule of your wedding day, covering the entire day from
when you wake up, until the time you go to sleep. You could include
your arrival time at the wedding site, a photography schedule, and a
transportation schedule. Make copies of this schedule for the people
helping you, and things tend to run more smoothly....Allow ample time
for the formal photographs ("Formals") of your families after the
ceremony....Inform your photographer, DJ, and caterer of your arrival
time at the reception, first dance, cutting of the cake, garter and
bouquet toss, departure of the reception, and any other times they
need to know. Distribute a copy to all the key people in the
wedding....Some brides and grooms like to have a relaxing massage a
few days before the wedding....Another tip is the get shopping bags
with big labels on them to put all your street clothes in from the
dressing rooms. This helps you clear out easier, and avoid leaving
items behind....Very important tip- make sure you have food in your
system. Your body is like a car that will not work properly without
fuel. Have light salads or sandwiches made in advance for all the key
people in your wedding party....Realize that no matter how organized
you are, you will be nervous. This is part of getting married, and
it's okay to be nervous. The team of people you have organized in
advance for your wedding is important to determine how smoothly
everything will go....The most important thing to remember is that
this day belongs to the TWO OF YOU. You have probably heard from
friends that have gotten married how fast a wedding goes by in
physical time. Before you know it, it's over. Take time to savour the
precious moments of your day.
