Neither of them expected the other to be the one. It was a Saturday in mid
September, and a double date with mutual friends Dale and Jeanette. Things
went pretty well right from the beginning. The conversation flowed, and
the laughter was endless. Of course, the Baby Acapulco margaritas may have
had something to do with it. After dinner it was off to do some dancing.
Though things were going well, both were wondering " does he like me? does
she like me?" It all become clear as crystal when Derek stole a kiss in
the elevator leaving the parking garage. The world began to spin. Dara's
toes curled and her stomach fluttered with butterflies. It was the kiss to
seal their fate.
Since that evening "like" has grown into a deep love. The conversation
still flows and the laughter has yet to end. In September, two years after
the infamous Blind Date ,Dara and Derek will profess their love and make a
commitment for life before God, their families, and their cherished
friends. "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something
blue." Dara will wear the gown worn by her father's mother fifty five
years ago, a beautiful new veil, a gold, pearl and diamond necklace that
was given to Derek's Great-grandmother on her wedding day by his
Great-grandfather in 1912, and a silk blue garter to complete the
tradition.
The wedding will take place at seven in the evening on September 27, 1997.
The ceremony and reception will be held in the gardens at Fair Oaks Manor
in Austin Texas. The couple is looking forward to their honeymoon in
Orlando Florida. Six fun filled days at Walt Disney World, Epcot Center,
MGM Studios, a drive to the coast, and yes, a day of golf for Derek.
