Tae is a manager of the 'Kirinkan' boarding house. She found a girl wandering in the middle of a road at night. The girl is called Kikuko, an abused wife escaping from her husband. Tae is surprised because Kikuko's husband is the person Tae had a crush on for a long time. Tae let Kikuko stay in the boarding house, and becomes Kikuko's protector.
This story has some heart gripping descriptions of domestic abuse. The portrait of love relationships between the main characters shows the different kinds of love that are possible.
