Do I Know You?

My name is Steve Israel. Have our paths crossed in the past? If so, I would love to hear from you again. Contact me and fill me in on what's happened in your life since we last met.

I welcome email from anyone from any of the places I have lived, worked, attended school or classes, or any other place we may have met. Read the page About Me for more details on my life, or if you're not sure. But I would especially like to hear from anyone whose name is mentioned below, or from anyone who knows or knows about them. Of course, female surnames have probably changed with marriage. Also please pardon the misspelling of names, I can only remember phonetic spelling in many cases.

Jim Rumler - One of my best buddies throughout high school and for many years after. I haven't had contact with Jim since 1987. I recently heard that he's working at the airport in Denver for United Airlines.

Bill Greenway and Darby Suk from Palmer, Nebraska.

Linda and Elaine Fortsen (sp) who lived across the street from us in Palmer, Nebraska. I last saw "Lainie" in Central City in 1973 when my rock band played at a big music concert there.

Any of the Blairs from Benkelman Nebraska.

Jim Martin from Benkelman, Nebraska.

Marvin Shoemaker - You attended school for a few days at Milford High in the late 60's, and you have been absent ever since.

Randy Bruegman, originally from Cozad, Nebraska. Drummer in Black Moriah. Rick Henry said he's talked to you recently, you're a fireman somewhere (did he say Washington state?).

People I met at Camp Fontenelle church camp in Nebraska during the late 60's:
Dave Thiel from Lincoln - I last saw you in Waterloo Iowa in 1972 while we were both going to colleges in Iowa.
Neil Brandt - someplace in Southeast Nebraska. You probably don't even remember me.
Susan Gross from Syracuse - we used to write letters for about a year after we met at camp.
Terri Scheef from Burr, Nebraska, a friend of Susan's.
Linda Spidel from Cortland - I last saw you in a class at the University of Nebraska in 1975.
Pat Albrecht from a town in Northeast Nebraska - last saw you in Norfolk in 1973 when my band Black Moriah played at a local club there in town.
Jeff Williams - I have your picture with Pat (above) beside the grave of Julius Grieb.

From Orchestra Camp near Lake Arrowhead in Northern Minnesota during the summer of 1969
Denise Stream from Minnesota
Cindy Elstad from St. Paul, Minnesota
Dena Zocher, originally from Minnesota, later moved to Denver. My friend Sam and I drove out to visit you one evening in 1971.
Gordy Johnson from Minnesota (probably Minneapolis area) - I have an old album your band Debb Johnson made in the 60's. I'm sure you don't remember me, but I'll never forget your classic line the first morning in the boy's cabin. It was the day right after the first moon landing and some kid went to sleep with the radio playing. The next morning he made a surpised exclamation that he'd left his radio on all night. Gordy said in a deep dark voice, "We know, Damn it!"

Others I knew briefly during my high school years:
Char Lasley from Lincoln Nebraska - I last saw you at the University of Nebraska in 1976.
Kay Buhrman from Martel Nebraska - last I heard from you was when you were going to college in Chadron in 1973.
Ellen Bushnell from Des Moines, Iowa - my friend Jim and I met you and your friend at a youth conference at Vennard in 1971. That next summer we hitchhiked from Nebraska to visit the two of you. I last heard from you when you went to college in Pennsylvania.

People I met at Vennard College in 1971-72:
Gale Davis from Urbana, Illinois - you were an upperclassman, and a good friend.
John McCarty from Mason City, Iowa - my first semester roommate.
Steve Benjestorf  from Stockton, California -my second semester roommate. My parents ran into you a few years ago when they were in Stockton, guess you were selling insurance at the time.
Carol Klodt from Staples, Minnesota - You had one of the most perfect soprano voices I've ever heard. Are you still doing your music?
Carla Main from Seattle, Washington - strange to think we were actually in the same hospital nursery as newborns, and meeting again almost 20 years later!
Linda Chamberlain from Toppenish, Washington, later Portland, Oregon - One of my best friends that helped me get through that dreary second semester.
Louis Byrd from Stockton, California - you were one of the funniest guys I've ever known. You married Sheryl Dow I think.

People I knew and lost track of after living in California:
Helmuth - Played guitars together at Blue Bear in 1979. Later you moved to Philadelphia.
Susan McCann (or was it McKann?) - Undoubtedly the best blues singer I ever played music with. Last I saw you was when you came to a show at the Golden Gate Theatre in the mid-80s.
Pat Bihlmeier (I probably butchered the spelling of your name) - we played in some bands together, notably Backstreet in 1981. You moved back to Kansas, then you called me once and said you moved back to the Bay Area. Last I heard from you.
Cindy Nelson (I think that was your last name if I remember right) - One of my best guitar students. You lived at the base of Vermont street's curvy crooked section in San Francisco.
Bob Grady - We worked together at the Golden Gate Theatre for years. Are you still alive?!

There will be more names added as I think of them.

If you know anything about any of these people, please get in touch with me and let me know what you know. Or tell them to check out this Web Site.

Your lucky number is: 4506
