Vapid:

You say, “Perhaps you recall....A Field Guide to Women in Scanty Lingerie and Spurious Militaristic Regalia...” to which I reply: BUT OF COURSE I DO! A copy of it is never more than five feet from anyplace I might lay down for a while. The Missus swears by it as I, upon perusing its purple pages, lose any interest I might have had in bothering her for a bit of marital cheese. You did well sir, and you might recall I begged you for a follow-up volume, or failing that, the address of the model on page 28.

In any event, Snelf came by my office today. I remarked to him that he was far more mobile than I since he seemed to treat the Atlantic Ocean like I might the stream on my grounds -- jumping over it on an almost daily basis. And he, Snelf, being at his most Snelfish, countered with an admission that he wished for my permanence! He is too clever by a third that one!

And speaking of too clever by a third, that was my take on that “Agnew” musical you saw most recently. (The nine-seat array was ingenious by the way. An uneducated loner might only buy three seats and think himself safe but of course, he wouldn’t be. The next step up is twenty-five but that is almost too great an area to keep others from. One would spend so much time shooing away interlopers it would defeat the purpose of hording so many seats in the first place. No, nine is the perfect number.) I don’t venture to the live theatre much anymore (not since they stopped putting years in the titles of musical reviews) but I am a sap for those Watergate era productions, having seen “H.R. Bob!” “Mr. Liddy” and of course, “John & Martha.” If my opinion counts for anything I would place “Agnew” a distant second to “John & Martha” but light years ahead of “Mr. Liddy.” (“H.R. Bob!” I can’t rank as it folded during the overture.)

Gee but it’s good to communicate again!
