Allemande:
I have taken up the flute!!! I have also just completed the New York City Marathon which you may recall started this Sunday past in the A.M. I did not finish last this year as I passed two fellows late Monday and they never did go by me again. I had a mind to hang around the finish line and taunt them when at last they showed but I was more in the mood for a nice little nappy -- after dictating this to you of course.
I know not if you saw the event on the television but there were quite a few entrants this year. I arrived a little too close to the start time and was not rewarded with a good placement. In fact, I began the race on the Staten Island Ferry if you would like the full truth and there it is. I can’t help but think this was a mitigating factor in my failure to finish the race within three days as I have in year’s past.
Of course, as if you even needs be told, Barston Snelf, The World’s Most Jealous Man, was very much in evidence in the throng lining the raceway. He cheered on one and all in his miserable, self-depracating style using such admonishments as “You go boy! I can barely walk down a hallway without getting winded and look at you!” or “Oh what pluck!” or, the most grating to my mind, “Would that I could even walk twenty-six point two miles in my whole misbegotten life!” Upon hearing that I almost veered from course in order to give him a good pasting but we were so packed in at that point that I don’t think my feet were even touching the ground.
Well, what’s next then? I’m feeling so physical lately that
there’s no telling what I might do. I have heard tell of something called
a Reinforced Cast Iron Man Competition. It entails the following
activities:
A Marathon
110-mile bike race
10-K swim
another marathon
scaling a sheer cliff of 4,000 ft
50-K cross country skiing
yet another marathon
dodge ball game
It sounds, to put it in the vernacular, like a stone bitch. Ya?
