Fred's Pentax Collector's Page

Vintage American Stuff

I have generally been ignoring this page and concentrating on the Pentax stuff and a little on the stereoview page. I guess I will have to get on to the task of supporting this page. So, I have put a few things up that I have been working with. The first one is an ANSCO camea in a vanity case that is much like the ANSCO Photo Vanity. The case and camera are not the "concealed" type, but, my feeling is that they did come from ANSCO as it is. My second item is a small wooden camera that came to me from the grandson of the man who owned it. The grandson identified it as a "pinhole" camera when he contacted me. It is cute. After some research, it appears that this camera is an Eclispe by Horseman. If anyone would like to send me a little article or something on the vintage american items they like, I would be honored to put it on the page. See you soon.

This is a little find I made some time ago. This is much like the ANSCO Photo Vanity, but, instead of having the concealed ANSCO camera in the vanity with small holes in the case for taking a picture, this example has a small ANSCO box camera with no holes in the case. Is this a special non-concealed version? What is your guess?

This view shows the small camera with a red Kodak Rainbow Hawkeye to give an idea of size. The photo shows the camera with the little round wood lens cap, and the back that has the pressure bar (thin metal) for holding the film holder in place. The camera is of jointed wood construction covered with a very thin leather. The lens is wood, the lens cap is wood, and there is a pinhole in a small round piece of metal with a piece of glass behind it. Cute, huh?

This back view shows (not too well) the inside chamber.

So, what shall I do? Well, I plan to dig out a few items I have enjoyed in the past, and put them here for discussion. If anyone would like to send me a little article or something on the vintage american items they like, I would be honored to put it on the page. See you soon.
