Adalberto Santiago is one of the all time great salsa soneros. He was featured in Ray Baretto's band, then with Tipica '73. I had the pleasure of catching him live at Wild Palm, Bronx NYC in 2002 and he sounded great. This album features a Conjunto sound with the great Mario Hernandez. Highly recommended.
This record includes two compositions by Ignacio Piniero of Septeto Nacional fame (Alma Guajira is on Sexteto Nacional). Notice the classic conjunto format featuring 3 trumpets and conga. The pianist and musical director is Javier Vazquez from Sonora Matancera.
