NGC 5907 - Galaxy in Draco
An Sc-class edge-on galaxy known as the Splinter Galaxy for its characteristic shape.

Not that many interesting items directly overhead this time of year so I decided to take a chance and try imaging something that was about 40 degrees off the horizon. But, since this galaxy was setting to the west, there was insufficient time to take an RGB set for the color data on the first pass. On the second try that took place June 2004, there was some doubt whether a cold front would stay clear long enough to get the job done. Not only did it remain clear, the seeing was as good as I have ever seen it and I finally snagged the color data to complete the image.
