Mercury Setting

Shot while Mercury was several days away from its maximum elongation.

• Lens: Olympus 135 mm f/2.8 lens at f/4
• Autoguider: Fixed tripod
• Sky conditions: Clear, excellent seeing
• Film: Fuji Super G 800+
• Exposure: 1/8th second
• Date: 6-14-99

• Comments:

This was shot the second time I had ever picked out Mercury on my own. Although Venus and Mars were not within this photographic frame, they along with Mercury and the setting sun nicely marked out the plane of the ecliptic.
