| Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride - PCBN INSERTS and TOOLS | ||
| GENERAL APPLICATION GUIDELINES FOR FOR PCBN INSERTS · Use a rigid machine that is fully capable of realizing the full productive potential of PCBN inserts. ·Don't use PCBN inserts for cutting easy-to-machine materials. They are designed to cut hardened steels, cast irons and tough superalloys. .Keep tool overhang to a minimum. ·Use negative-rake tools whenever possible. ·Avoid side-cutting edge angles under 15 degrees. ·Use plenty of cutting fluid: Soluble oil is suitable. ·Chamfer the existing edge of the workpiece to minimize burr formation on high-temperature alloys. ·Stop the cut immediately if chatter is audible. Chatter indicates that the tool edge is dull or the setup isn't rigid enough. |
