How to write to your government officials

It is the straightforward letter, carrying the appeal of earnestness, that commands the interest and respect of officials. It is especially helpful if you can state how the issue or bill would affect you and your community. Government officials must decide how to vote on many issues, and want your help in telling them how those issues would affect their districts.

Be brief, write legibly, and be sure to use the proper form of address.
