- Is there a host that doesn't lie about bandwidth space? I'm losing hope.
Hello all,I am sure this thread was most likely created before but I haven't been able to find anything on the particular host I just had an issue with.It goes like this.I've been through web hosts ever since 1998. I've grown accustomed to web hosts deceiving their customers by listing '20 gigs of BW use, or 'Unlimited BW' (which we all know is BS) but for the past few years, I actually had a host who didn't lie about how much BW their customers got with the packages. I signed up for a 20 gig BW account with HostVector and I've used up to 19 gigs and they have never said a single word. I left them recently because they were bought out by Millennium Services and ever since then, its been a nightmare. Constant down time, tech support nowhere to be found. Sadly to say, I had to leave that host due to fact that their new owners have no clue what they are doing.I found ELIEF and thought they looked promising. I signed up for the package that listed 20 gigs of BW, now at first I thought okay.. this may be fishy, but if this was a flake, they would have specified that customers really won't get 20 gigs of BW.Regardless, I trusted them the way I trusted HostVector. Seeing how I am a musician, I uploaded a 80MB pack and sent it to some friends to download and not even a 12 hours later. My account was suspended because it apparently caused their server to crash?I checked the stats and only 68 users downloaded that 80MB file. This is beyond aggravating. I know there are countless web hosts who lie about this type of stuff but why cant at least specify someplace on their page a more detailed info about bandwidth usage? Maybe put an asterisks next to the BW section like some hosts do and explain that what is listed there is not the reality. So here I am, my domain is suspended. My fans/listeners/friends are wondering what happened and I am sitting here angered beyond belief because I thought this type of lying was something that hosts stopped doing in the late 90s.Any recommendation guys? Does an honest web host who actually offers the same amount of BW they list on their hosting packages, exist anywhere?Thank you all in advance. - Looking for file storage space
is there any web hosting that can be used as file storage (>10G) and cheap? I have some huge files, but many web hostings can not accept non-web-content files.thanks. - Premium Hosts with High-End powerful shared hosting
Hello,Im a webdesigner so when looking for hosting i try to find one that is simple to manage, hardware powerful, lots of ready to install scripts and a beautiful webmail like Atmail or Zimbra. So im looking for a powerful / quality high end "shared" hosting package.Until now i have looked at:- Mediatemple(as @mail, exelent support but slow in Europe)- Mosso(is always good to be powered by rackspace but i think that the cloud hosting concept is still unsstable. Any experience?- SimpleHelix (realy fast magento demo store, lots of scripts, @Mail and seems to have a fast network to europe)So any advices on premium shared hosting? An in Europe, any company similar to mediatemple or simplehelix?Budjet: up to 100 $ - Looking for a shared host that can run Ubersmith
Hello,I was wondering if anyone knows any good hosting providers that can support Ubersmith (www.ubersmith.com).If you do i would be keen to know what ones. Thanks! - gogax.com
stay away away awayworst hosting ever!downtime 99,9%non clearly charges! - 1and1, hardware setup & overselling.
Hi,Out of curiosity, anyone have some stats or more information regarding the 1and1 shared hosting backend? (raid setup, how they "load balance" users across servers, ...)They seem to use boxes with 4GB of rams, quad 1.6ghz intel processor (xeon 5110), 3.2TB of hdd (90% full). Looking at the /home/ it seem to host more than 10k accounts! All the best,Sam - web hosting with good transfer rates?
I have a web site currently at ipower. Until a few months ago, the transfer rate was good at over 1.5 mega-bytes per seconds, but after a transition to new servers, it's now down to 350 kilo-bytes per second.Ipower's advertising claims 15,000GB bandwith per month, but in order to get that, it would require a continuous transfer rate of 5.787 mega-bytes per second, 16 1/2 fold increase in transfer rate over the current 350 kilo-byte per second rate. Yet another example of false advertising.Anyway, other than signing up with a service, testing download rates, canceling the seriver, signing up with another service, is there anyone here that can recommend a web hosting service with around 1 to 2 megabyte per second transfer rates, or a link to a review of web hosts that includes transfer rates? - Want some advice about Scarabweb
Recently, i noticed scarabweb.com have a positive review here. And i would like to use their web hosting for sure. But now, i found that they will get a free domain name when i register for 1 year. So my question is...the domain own by me or own by them if i get the free domain name there. I have email them but i didn't get the answer yet.If they hold my domain name, then i will get the domain name from somewhere else. And i will get the free domain name for free by using another name that i like from them.Is it possible, i get the free domain name from them. But i don't use it and i use the one that i have?Thank you - Web site Down

I'm not a direct client of Leaseweb, but it's not a secret that my domain is pointing at their servers.I purchased a shared hosting plan from a reseller and since more than 43 hours my domain is down! My provider (the reseller) said he's waiting for Leaseweb support... according to my informations, in more than 24 hours they just made a reboot of the server!I'm really bored of waiting with no chance of intervention! My provider says he can't do anything from his side, i can't contact Leaseweb cause i'm not a client... please, help, what can i do????I need my site back online!!! - Need custom Semi-Dedicated/VPS hosting for a website
Hello,I need a small customised budget plan for Semi-Dedicated / VPS hosting.Space is approximately 1 gb & BW 30 GBAll semidedicated plans I saw offer 5 Gb space + 100 Gb bandwidth. But I dont need that much.Is there a site which offers customised plans for Semi-dedicated & VPS hosting - Basic hosting suggestion
I'm new here and I just want to start my first web site. What I need is just something basic: email, web stat, stability, etc. I do not need lots of space and bandwidth (of course, it is best if it is upgradable). Any suggestion on hosting company with lower budget plans? I hope I can start from a cheap monthly rate, and can upgrade in the future when needed. And I have some questions when I look into different hosting plans:1. I found many hosting plans offer free domain, so I can save may be $10 for the domain name registration. Would there be any disadvantage for using the free domain provided, like it may not be portable in the future?2. After this first web site, I may build a few more web sites in the future. I found many plans offer "unlimited domains" to be hosted. Does it mean I can just build new web sites using the same hosting account without paying extra? Would there be any limitation or disadvantage for this, compared to using a new hosting account to build the new website?Hope some one can kindly help. Thank you. - Who Offers Budget Dedicated Servers & VPS Account?
Hi All,I'm looking for a good company that offer cheap or budget dedicated servers and/or VPS Server Accounts...Im looking for a company that offers them for around the same price as nocster.com (BurstNET)... or cheaper!Let me know. Thanks! - Unique Visitors
Been looking around the web with no luck. Is there a way to find out how many unique visitors your site generate? I have cpanel, whm, and hypervm if that helps.I'm not sure if this is the right section as all the other sections are very specific, but if it's not; please move it. - Trying to start up a website business...help needed
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this and I don't even know where to start but I need help. I have a business that is successful in selling retail products and have tried to get a site up and running for the last year or so with no luck. What is the best way to go about doing that? I really don't have that much time to be honest. There are a lotta items that I'm trying to sell so I would need a good amount of space on the site.I just need a simple website with a shopping cart and good security measures for credit cards. Thanks in advance.ps - I thought about doing it with godaddy.com but after reading their reviews and complaints, I chose not to.
