- Most Reliable Managed Hosting for windows server 2008
Hi, I am looking for a possibilities to move to another hosting company. Currently we are with Verio's managed hosting. Technically they are reliable, we are happy with their datacenter but their support are far below their big name. I think they are selling oriented not a customer oriented company :). We are looking for a hosting company that has their own datacenter(not a reseller) and Microsoft gold certified partner. I have tried to contact theplanet and rackspace by livechat.. only rackspace sales contacted me once and haven't replied me yet :). we have been with verio for more than 5 years.. now I am looking for another world class hosting company that has lot of great feedback and of course great support which I don't have now :D Kindly advise for the world class hosting company. Thank you. - Beware Acunett
I am a former Acunett customer. I moved to them after trying PSM. Unlike some here, I decided to use them for both server and management. I reasoned that dealing with one company would be easier than dealing with two (server company + management company). I ultimately stopped using them after my server was down for over 6 hours, since I can get better up-time at a cheaper price with shared or VPS hosting companies. During my time with Acunett, they were friendly and when I left I did receive a refund for the advance billing in a timely manner. This isn't a review of that experience, however. Sometimes you learn more about a company after you leave it than when you are with it. It has been nearly 6 months since I terminated service with Acunett. A couple weeks ago I received a phone call from "RSA Anti-Fraud Command Center" telling me that my company was hosting a phishing website. I was a bit skeptical at first, but gradually I began to realize the problem. It turns out that the server I had at Acunett was continuing to report my domain as its DNS address (although that address no longer resolves to Acunett). So, you check ns1.phishingsite.com and it responds back ns1.mydomain.com. The problem is that many DNS tools don't make this distinction, so a cursory check made it seem like my DNS server was resolving this phishing site. I notified Acunett via e-mail on 11/19/08 and again on 11/26/08 of the phishing scam and the improperly configured DNS server. It appears that the only reason Acunett finally did something today is because I CC'd Gnax (their datacenter) on the e-mail and Gnax contacted them about the issue. The DNS server still responds with my domain, although the phishing site has been taken down. There are two take-away messages here: 1. The server wasn't completely wiped after we left. Maybe everything except the DNS was wiped clean, but if the hard drive had been reformated and OS re-loaded this wouldn't have been an issue. This may be of concern to you if you plan to use Acunett's servers for hosting any sensitive information. 2. If Acunett is managing your server and your server is hosting a phishing/ scam site, it is Acunett's responsibility to promptly deal with this. The priority should be at least as high as if the server was down. The fact that Gnax had to intervene indicates that accounts are not getting the attention they deserve. So, before you choose a dedicated hosting company, you should investigate the manner in which they "wipe" the hardware. This is true of any hosting company, but we probably tend to assume a dedicated server is safer. You should also consider the ramifications to your business' reputation with any hosting company/ server management company you choose as ultimately you may be left holding the bag for their mistakes. -Matt Disclaimer: This is my experience and may not apply to 99% of Acunett's customers. I do not represent a server management company or a dedicated hosting company. Once I post this, I know that people will start criticizing the validity of my complaint, but I am willing to take the backlash as I hope others will have the guts to post their real experiences (even the negative ones) with ANY hosting-related company. It took 30-45 minutes to gather the relevant facts to ensure the accuracy of this post, which represents a significant investment of my time (to say nothing of the time spent investigating this issue). In other words, this post is not taken lightly. To head off the inevitable criticism from Acunett and its cheeleaders... Some may point out that the 26th was the day before Thanksgiving. That is true, but I did send the first notification a week prior and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday passed after Thanksgiving before Gnax forced Acunett into action. Acunett may claim to have never received the e-mails, but this isn't any better as it means valid e-mails are not getting through on channels specifically designed for this purpose (I am not posting the e-mail addresses out of respect, but if Acunett disputes receiving the messages, I will be happy to post the e-mail addresses I used--and the same messages CC'd to Gnax DID go through). If the argument is made that a "thorough investigation had to be made, which is time consuming," keep in mind that the solution was to remove the offensive sub-directory (a task that may have taken all of 5 minutes). Even if intensive forensics needed to take place, the drive could have been mirrored and directory deleted. Based on the fact that the site remained in operation, I suspect detailed forensics did not take place. If Acunett disputes the accuracy of the claim or whether sufficient information was contained in the correspondences, I will post those as well. I understand that issues like malware/ phishing sites are inevitable. If this issue had been rectified in a timely manner I would not be posting this publicly. - We3cares review
Great and fast services from this company..I need some custom apps to install on server and they did this very quickly. And what count most, they still believe in people. I need some custom work on server fast, but Paypal temporarily suspend my account because they need to confirm my address and credit card, and this guys from We3cares did a job without any prepayment.. Of course, I paid them as soon PayPal restore my account. I will sure use them again :) Thanks James, - 2 Dedicated servers with Hostgator.com
HelloI have two dedicated servers with hostgator.com .. this is managed hosting... i pay around 500 per month. Now the problem for last one month is that .. our server ips are listed as spam ip ... I had a lot of talk with them.. They did not tell me the reason why is it.. who did the spam so i can terminate him. What you people suggest i should do. Sam - REVIEW: 24x7ServerManagement.com - My Bad Experience
Normally I don't even bother with telling my bad experiences...they happen...and usually its miscommunication etc In this instance, I think its just piss-poor management and a lack of quality control. This individual/company is obviously a broker. Charging primarily US people and then offloading the work to the cheapest person overseas. Depending on how much money they need determines how much they charge. Here are some snippets of previous conversations: Friday, August 15, 2008 15:54 PM] I GROW Your Biz: do u install codecs? [Monday, September 22, 2008 10:53 AM] SrvManager: Once you order you will have to post a ticket based off of that conversation, I hired them for a month of service...supposedly they fixed the issue so that brings me to my lasted "experience" in which i asked if they could do FFMPEG install WOW... HALF PRICE....PLUS they will configure the server AND install PHP motion...for HALF PRICE! wow! $40 is less than a month of server maintenance, or a ONE TIME configuration, or FFMPEG install by itself..what a deal...right? WRONG! needless to say as per this post: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=737775 they screwed it up, then lied about it. Had the nerve to say I was impatient and they COMPLETED the install (must be user error). here are the logs: PAYPAL DISPUTE=== From Buyer - Need Promo, LLC 11/24/2008 19:28 PST i paid specifically to have ffmpeg installed, and i was told it was done, only to find out it was not. THen when i complained i was told it would be taken care of, but then got a message that they tried 3 times and could not do it and were going to talk to an administrator...I do not get responses to my messages. I want my money back as this was a rush and had to hire someone else to do this for me. From Seller - Geeks Solutions 11/24/2008 20:53 PST For your Information ffmpeg is installed and it should be working fine, Its just not activated as php module, Also you need to keep this in mind that we have also installed phpmotion and server setups. If you do not know how it works then you need to ask your admins. However you attitude is little rude and no patience i am sorry for that. We are refunding your money back. Thanks From Seller - Geeks Solutions 11/24/2008 20:54 PST refunded back A Refund was issued. 11/24/2008 20:54 PST As of 11:206 AM 11/25/08.... the "phpmotion" site does not work, ffmpeg does not show in the phpinfo page of installed modules, and I hired them for this days ago? Yet "I'm" impatient? when is a reasonable amount of time? I know how php motion works, you upload a video and it converts it to flv and makes a thumbnail image...thats not happening on the installation....and server "setup" was non-existent. In effect they did NOTHING Don't waste your time with this group unless you have something really simple for a hobby server...if its production or a company or for clients, my opinion is you should STAY AWAY. =======MY IM log of the event: Session Start (igrowyourbiz:SrvManager): Thu Nov 20 12:16:49 2008 [Thursday, November 20, 2008 12:16 PM] I GROW Your Biz: (Link: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...35#post5417535 [Thursday, November 20, 2008 12:16 PM] I GROW Your Biz: u want to bid on that? This is in response to this thread: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=738537 I was apparently mistaken when I had it closed since so far nobody from SeeksAdmin has attempted to contact me nor had they answered my test ticket (I'm not sure why Bobcares would reply since I had cancelled my service with them last weekend but kudos to them for still helping out I guess). So now I've filled out 3 tickets, my original ticket has gone unanswered/acknowledged since 23 Nov 2008 06:58 AM. My 2nd ticket, sent to their support team, was answered with "I will notify the sales manager about that ticket", the 3rd has just been sent to their 911 team which I have little hope for. Has anybody else had this kind of experience with them? Any kind of reassurance would be nice right now. I remember last time it took me weeks to get a refund but was assured by them and other members that my experience was not the norm and it was due to key people being sick and unable to setup my account. - SeeksAdmin closed on the weekends?
Round 2 with SeeksAdmin, mainly because their Per Ticket Help Desk plan is the only one I can find like it, unfortunately I signed up for them over the weekend and cancelled my other Help Desk support plan at Bobcares yesterday thinking that SeeksAdmin would have replied to my support tickets within 24 hours and have things setup, yet again I was wrong. It's been 27 hours since I placed my order and 25 hours since I opened my original ticket with them, I know I may sound impatient but it if takes them 24+ hours to respond to a client's ticket then I wonder how long it will take for them to get around to my client's tickets. :( My previous experience with them wasn't good at all but I was told that it was just bad timing on my part so I figured I'd give them another shot, I hope I don't regret it. I'm hoping it's something silly like their billing team doesn't work weekends or something... - Jonesolutions
Hello,I am using jonesolutions services for more than 6 months. I think that their initial hardening and configuration of the servers is excellent. They have secured a server after a attack very fast. I think that they know a lot about servers management. They are just a little more expensive than other options and that is the only reason of not using them in all the servers. Thank you, Paulo Santos - Looking for an alternative to platinumservermanagement.
Hello, PSM suspended my subscription: ---Quote--- *Based on your repeated negative wht posts, it is apparent that our service does not meet your requirements. * ---End Quote--- http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showpo...4&postcount=13 ---Quote--- *You continually post that we are not willing to do custom programming* ---End Quote--- Where I posted that you are not willing ? I think there is a difference between *can't *(based on your TOS) and *unwilling*. If I describe the reality it doesn't mean I have complaints against you. Anyway, I am looking for an alternative which can provide custom scripting. Budget: $50. Thanks. - seeksadmin won't refund or reply
My business is very small, primarily design and hosting for a niche market and some business acquaintances. 7 months ago I signed up with sa for per ticket support. After some bumps in the road, a client that took me months to acquire and is made up of some very high profile local engineer/phd types; submits a ticket. Well, to keep it short and to the point, not only did sa fail to respond to my client, and because I also receive email notice of support requests, I emailed sa's 911, feedback and sales a few times asking 'what's up'- how come no reply to the ticket. Well they never replied to me either for approx 24hrs. So I asked for my $100 back and Tris said I had to put a ticket in with billing. I dd this on Friday. No reply. I submitted another today with cc to feedback and sales; no reply. There TOS states: ---Quote--- Customer waives any claim for damages, direct or indirect, and agrees that its sole and exclusive remedy for damages (either in contract or tort) is the return of compensation paid to SeeksAdmin, which is only provided on a case by case basis at the sole discretion of SeeksAdmin. ---End Quote--- So I guess in their 'discretion' they get to keep my money for providing absolutely NO SERVICES. Live and learn. - Amazon AWS & Rightscale Sys admins

Hey guys,Just wondering is there any businesses out there that provide shoutcast servers for say around 100 listeners to start with, payed monthly! that could help me to setup my radio station, and also that can help me to keep it online - this is because i have never done it before and i am interested insetting one up as theres hardly any decent stations around these days... Thank you. - Server management
Hi Im looking for a cheap server management. I only need one who look after my server just in case if something goes wrong. I don't open much tickets about my problems etc.
