What are approvals and how do they work?

For those of you who are new to stamp collecting and may not be familiar with approvals, here's how they work. When you start the approval service, I send you a selection of stamps for sale that you can examine in the comfort and privacy of your own home and at your leisure without a salesperson hanging over you. You decide what stamps you want from the selection I send, keep them and return to me any you don't want, along with payment for the stamps you keep. Then we do it again--and again and again, as long as you wish. You may stop the service at any time--just tell me you don't want me to send you any more stamps.

What kinds of stamps will you see on approval? I sell primarily mint U.S. stamps on approval, and I very much want to send you what you want to see and what you need for your collection. It does neither of us any good to send stamps back and forth that you don't need or want. So, if there are specific stamps you'd like to see on approval, let me know. If I've got them in stock I'll send them. If I don't, I'll try to get them for you. A want list is not essential, however; I'll be happy to send you an assortment. As I see what you buy and what you don't, I'll try to focus on sending you what you seem to need and want. I won't send expensive stamps on approval until we've developed a business relationship and have gotten to know each other (and provided, of course, they are what you want to see).

Although I sell U.S. stamps on approval, I will try to get foreign stamps for a customer who requests them. At present, I have a good inventory of U.N. stamps, and a few Canada, Israel, Great Britain and British Colonies, along with a smattering of others, but U.S. is where my inventory is most complete.

How to get started?

To start the approval service, just tell me you want to begin receiving stamps for sale on approval and give me a name and snail mail address to which to send the stamps. Then we're off and running! You can do this with or without the introductory packet I offer to new approval customers: 30 MINT, NEVER HINGED U.S. STAMPS ISSUED BETWEEN 1918 AND 1962 ONLY $5.00 TO APPLICANTS FOR MY APPROVAL SERVICE.

If you wish to purchase the introductory packet at the time you request that the approval service start, you will need to send me a check or money order for $5.00, along with your name and snail mail address and a note telling me you'd like to begin the approval service. Here's my snail mail address:

Duane D. Morford
P. O. Box 60769
Sacramento, CA 95860

If you don't want the introductory packet, all you need to do is send an e-mail to me at MrPhilately@sbcglobal.net giving me your name and snail mail address and indicating you'd like to start my approval service.
