Dreher Carbon Foot Stretchers

Dreher 2005 Stiff Adjustable Carbon Foot Stretchers with New Wave Shoes:

The new 2005 design that can be out fitted with either a foot plate for greater speed of adjustment or with shoes mounted directly to the frame. For a direct connection to the frame the trade off is less ease of adjustment with a lower cost and lower weight configuration. The foot stretcher has a flat frame, but can accept a canted foot plate.

Dreher 2004 Reinforced Adjustable Carbon Foot Stretchers:

The 2004, non-tubular design is stiffer, yet has the same adjustment features of angle, foot plate height and horizontal placement. What's new is the increased overall stiffness of the foot plate, the foot board and at the keel connection to the boat. This is particularly evident with the improved tortional stiffness. The foot plate has a steeper toe angle to promote better connection at the finish and has an increased ability to adjust shoe placement on the foot plate. In 2005 a flat plate was added to the options for this foot strecher as well as easily retrofittable keel attachment.

Dreher Carbon Tubular Adjustable Carbon Foot Stretchers:

The Dreher Adjustable Carbon Tubular Foot stretcher Assembly is designed to custom fit almost any sculling or sweep boat from a single to an eight.

These foot stretchers provide a full range of adjustment. The Dreher adjustable carbon foot stretcher assembly is now being used by several manufacturers as original equipment. This unique foot stretcher design is totally adjustable, strong and provides excellent energy transfer while being extremely light in weight due to the carbon design.

The foot stretcher is adjustable three ways: fore and aft, up and down and angle inclination. The foot plate on which the shoes are attached is easily removable from the boat, so you can easily take you shoes and foot plate out of the boat when not in use. In a crew boat you can quickly move your shoes from seat to seat, when the coach decides to change the boating. This means no more shoes that are too big or shoes that are too small. The correct size shoe provides more control at the finish when your feet need to be firmly attached to the boat. Its great for individuals, clubs, Universities, and schools. Shoes on footplates can be assigned to each team/club member, perhaps with a damage deposit for an entire rowing season. The Dreher carbon tubular foot stretcher assembly coupled with the foot plate and top quality lightweight rowing shoes is a winning combination.

The carbon foot stretcher consists of two parts: The cross bar and heal plate assembly or "frame" and footplate with shoes attached. By simply loosening one thumb screw, the footplate with shoes attached is easily removable from the cross bar. This quick disconnect feature allows easy shoe removal (i.e., shoes and footplate together) and can be changed from boat to boat and seat to seat. The tube within a tube (heel plate assembly into cross bar) is adjustable for length, height and angle (35 to 45 degrees). A decal shows the angle of the foot plate at each adjustment position.

Lightweight rowing shoes with Velcro closures and quick heel releases are mounted on the height adjustable carbon footplate. The total weight of the foot stretchers (with shoes) is 2 to 2.5 pounds (weight dependent on shoe size) and without shoes is approximately one pound.

An extra wide foot board was designed in 2001 to provide a greater range of shoe placement on the board, upgraded in 2003 with a more secure clamping system and a bent foot board offered in 2004. The new foot plate for 2004 has been designed to offer several of the new features of the X-Stiff Foot Stretcher. The steeper toe angle promote better connection at the finish, while also providing greater stiffness of the foot plate. This foot plate can be installed on any 2002-2003 Dreher Carbon Tubular Foot Stretcher. It is also offered on Resolute fours and eights that have the Tubular Foot Stretcher. The foot plate is shown below with the standard BBG shoes.
