The Enhanced Chip Set for Amiga computers supports fully programmable graphics modes based on 35ns, 70ns, 140ns, and 280ns pixel clocks, the 35ns modes support up to 2 bit-planes, the 70ns modes up to 4 bit-planes, and the 140ns and 280ns modes up to 6 bit-planes. Modes up to 5 bit-planes are a simple selection of N colors (2, 4, 8, 16, or 32) from a 12 bit palette. There are two 6 bit-plane modes HAM (Hold And Modify) and EHB (Enhanced Half Bright), the HAM mod has a basic 16 color palette with a change of the red, green, or blue component to enable the access of all 4096 colors on a single screen. The EHB mode has a 32 color palette along with 32 more colors that are half as bright giving a total of 64 colors. The programmable nature of the graphics modes supports all of the modes of OCS with a little added flexibility. This chip set has support for 512kb, 1Mb or 2Mb of graphics memory depending on whether it has Agnus, the Fat Agnus, or the Fatter Agnus chip as part of it.
