Basketball Problem:

There are eight basketball teams in the WAC Conference, including University of Nevada, Las Vegas. If each team plays each of the other teams twice during the season, how many total games must be scheduled?


Martin has a cup with 12 paintbrushes. Rosa has a cup with 4 paintbrushes. How many paintbrushes should Martin give to Rosa so they each have the same number?


Jan folds a sheet of paper in half 4 times. When she opens it up, how many sections will there be?


Dan has saved $5. He earns $3 more cutting a neighbor's lawn. Later, Dan buys a gift for his father that costs $4. How much money does he have left? 
Kim has 25 cents more than Misha has. Does Kim have enough to buy an orange that costs 35 cents? 
Tony has 45 cents. If he buys an apple for 30 cents, how much will he have left? 
Mike has to leave in 5 minutes. It will take him 20 minutes to get to the camp. What time will he arrive? 
Joshua has a cup with 12 paintbrushes. Jaimie has a cup with 4 paintbrushes. How many paintbrushes should Joshua give to Jaimie so they each have the same number? 
Kourtni folds a sheet of paper in half 4 times. When she opens it up, how many sections will there be? 
David has saved $5. He earns $3 more cutting a neighbor's lawn. Later, David buys a gift for his father that costs $4. How much money does he have left? 
Mr. Rosa is having a party for his daughter Ana. Make a diagram to help you solve each problem.

 

Mr. Rosa will cut a pizza into 8 equal pieces. If only 3/4 of the people eat pizza, how many pieces of pizza will be left.

Mr. Rosa has 3 square table to seat the 8 people at the party. How could he arrange the tables so that they can seat only 8 people? 


Help Mr. Foster plan his classroom. First, make a map of his classroom. It is in the shape of a large square. The section with tables will cover 1/2 of the room. The library will cover 1/4 of the classroom. A math and science center will cover the rest of the room. 
Maria has number cards for numbers 2, 4, and 6. She wants to know how many different numbers she can make using all three cards. Make a list to solve the problem. 
Justin is making 4 pizzas. He wants each pizza to be the same. Draw pictures or use models to help Justin make the pizzas.

1. He has 36 pieces of pepperoni.

2. He has 16 ounces of cheese.

3. He has 44 slices of tomato.

4. He has 24 ounces of sauce.
